WoodloreWoodlore 82720 Cedar Tie Organizer

The first one of these that I ordered and shipped from Amazon was a genuine Woodlore product and was made in the USA and of fine quality. It featured smooth, attractive hardware, smooth cedar edges, and a screwed in Woodlore plaque. The second one I ordered from Amazon less than one month later was shipped from Wild Ties and the box said Ties.com. This second one was NOT a genuine Woodlore product, was made in China, and was of vastly inferior quality, featuring different hardware with cheap seams, sharp ceder edges, and a pinned Ties.com plaque. It was less than half the price of the first one, so be warned. It's fine for what it is and for the cost, but it should NOT have been advertised as a genuine Woodlore product made n the USA. Buyer beware and shame on Wild Ties/Ties.com.

I purchased this cedar tie organizer because A) I didn't want to deal with batteries and mechanical problems that plague electric tie organizers, and 2) I don't care for vertically aligned tie organizers, in which ties are hidden behind other ties and thus difficult to see and remove.I'm generally please with this product. It's constructed out of sweet-smelling cedar and features 42 chrome bars (21 on each side) to hold a total of 42 ties. The nice thing about it is A) It looks elegant and 2) it takes up relatively minimal rack space in my closet, about 4" of width or so. It's easy to see all the ties and choose one by simply swinging the entire rack slightly to the side with one's hand.The reason I take off one star is that there is room for improvement in the design. The ends of the chrome bars are flat, with some occasional rough edges, which sometimes catch the delicate silk of the ties as you slide the tie on the bar, if you don't leave enough clearance. My suggestion would be to make the ends of the bars a round metal ball, to minimize the chance of catching the tie silk. Secondly, the chrome bars could feature a felt coating or something to prevent the ties from slipping off the bars. Generally, this is not a problem, as long as you balance the wide and thin parts of the tie on the bar, but it's something that might add a little extra functionality to the product. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Others have pointed out that there are wood splinters around the pegs, mine was no different. Some have also mentioned that the pegs are not secured against the frame, mine was no different. Only half of my hanger smelled like cedar, because half of the hanger had been exposed to air. I was easily able to remove the pegs from the frame with no effort at all, and sand away the splinters. I then was able to press the pegs back into the frame, and gave the pegs a gentle wack with a hammer to secure them. I actually considered making this hanger myself, but found the cost of materials (the cedar wood mainly) exceed the cost of just buying this hanger; however, I had to do touch ups to make this hanger at the quality, if I had I made the hanger myself.

Everything arrived intact and in a timely way. The product looks, feels, and smells as I hoped it would.

The organizer works. There's a little split at the top where the metal hook was driven into the wood, but otherwise the integrity of the design seems good. The bars could use a little more nub on the end to resist when ties attempt to escape the hanger.

Get a few to keep your ties in seasonal rotation and another for the holiday ties.

Swivels and is not straight, banging into the one next to it. The metal posts on which the ties hang are not wide enough, ties slip off.

The hanger portion pulled out of the wood in less than two years. I tried to screw it in further and it worked for a bit. Now, just after two years after purchase it has pulled out again and the hole is stripped. For the money, I believe it could be designed much better. Functionally, it holds the ties well. I just wish the hanger/wood interface was better.
