WS Deans 1300 Ultra Plug

I hesitated to buy Deans connectors based on bad reviews of other Deans connectors. These days with so many people vying for customers - and price being a major concern - some companies sell 3rd rate products so they'll get customers. That often leads to people building inferior products which are a real pain - and give expensive damage - to use. I wanted to use Deans connectors to standardize my RC power needs. I bought this brand in a small quantity instead of buying a large enough number to allow me to standardize. I bought XT 60s because XT60 connectors had fewer bad reviews than the Deans connectors. I truly believe the bad reviews were the result of unscrupulous sellers making counterfeit Deans connectors. That's a sad commentary on today's world.All that complaining done - this brand of Deans connectors is easy to connect and disconnect. In fact, they are easy enough to put together and take apart that I wonder if they'll get hot in high amperage use. I hasten to add that I'm just starting my involvement with the RC hobby and I've had so little experience using Deans connectors that I don't know how firmly they should connect. I'll use the few Deans connectors in the package to make a low current demand adapter.

Sometimes off brand is fine to save a few pennies, but not with these. Between the fiberglass impregnated plastic and high quality plating, these connectors are top notch for high current applications.

Usually I will buy China RC stuff but these are the one thing it is not worth skimping on. Sure, at $4/pair they are a little expensive but the fiber filled heat resistant nylon, quality metals, and snug fit make them worth it. The cheaper "10 for a dollar" ones are made from straight nylon and have melted while being soldered and have trouble with sparking.Soldering these can be a bit of a challenge. I connect the pair together and have a hole drilled in a wood block specifically for deans connectors. The trick to getting a solid connection to the wire is to tin the connector and wire separately, then solder them together. If you place bare wire against the connector then try to solder it like that, you'll just make a mess at best. I have been doing them this way for over 10 years and have not had an issue.

I have been using these connectors on all my rc stuff since the 90's. I haven't tried any others so I can't give you a comparison but I have never had any problems with Deans Connectors so why try something else. I did have a problem with some Deans style connectors, cheap copies, but never the genuine Deans.They are compact, light weight, low resistance, and they stay connected. I was in to RC racing about 10 years ago and used these same plugs.I wasn't surprised to see them still available.They work well on 7.2, 8.4 and 9.6v battery packs.I also use them on my Nitro T-Maxx 3.3 for the 4.8v pack, as well as an AssociatedRC10GT and electric Tamiya Blackfoot.Very heat resistant. I've never melted one, even from soldering.There isn't a lot of area to solder to so if you tin the wire firstso it has already taken solder it's quite easy to solder it to the post.Need only remove an 1/8th inch of insulation from the wires and the included heatshrink fits good and no need for tape.Looks professional when you get the hang of it.

I am going to have to say the connections I get from these plugs are amazing.I play airsoft at least once a month and the standard connector on my gun and battery loose connection from time to time. It's not a big deal but just anticlimactic when I attempt to open fire and nothing happens. Usually a little jolt to the barrel or wiggling of the cords makes the connection again.I have soldered these connectors on to my gun and my Lipo batteries and I have yet to lose a connection. They are actually stiff to connect and disconnect which is a good thing. Anyone who plays airsoft should consider these, especially for the price.

Great connnections that did exactly as advertised. The only reason it lost one star is because the second male connection I ordered doesn't quite fit as nicely as all the other deans connections I've soldered together, it's extremely tight for some reason, might just be a lemon.

I tried the rest.. this is the best. Easily soldered these and worked first time. I tried knockoff's before and they melted upon soldering. If you plan to solder, you definitely want these.
