Good Story
I told you so Mr. Meyer. If you wrote a well researched novel with no 'F' bombs there would be an army of readers wanting to purchase your book. Me being one of them.CONTAINS SPOILERSPROS: Good job on the historical accuracy and the insertion of the extra terrestial meteor that gives off radiation. This story kind of reminds me of another book out there: TREASURE OF THE MAYAN KING, by Alex Zabala. The mythological tale of the Mayan twins is well explained. The crashing of the helicopter and the stranded scientists added to the tension and drama.CONS: it seemed that at the end all the chapters there were cliff hangers designed to keep the reader engaged. I mean it's okay to employee these tactics but if done at EVERY chapter becomes tiring. No big deal...nice story.

This was a good story. The author did a good job sticking to historical accuracy while still creating an interesting fictional alternative. The book is the second in a series, but the author does a great job of filling in enough details concerning the characters that the book can be read as a 'stand alone' novel. Good book. I liked it enough, that I will now be seeking out other titles by this author.

A real page turner indeed.
Hi there,I had not read anything by David Meyer before, but I can tell you he has become a firm favorite with me. After only one book too. very unusual I can tell you. This writer is definitely worth more than one look I can tell you, The story is a breathless leap from one page to the next, I found myself up quite late, still reading like crazy, and enjoying every word. If you like a good adventure with some twist and turns in it, you will really enjoy this one. There is also a nice introduction to his next book at the last, but you do not have to read that if you don't want to, well not all of it anyway, but I bet you will buy the next one.happy reading, Josie

Cy Reed must decipher the puzzle of a long lost treasure and encounters traps and villains!
The "Cy Reed Adventures" by David Meyers' are enjoyable action and adventure page turners. The protagonist Cy (Cyclone) Reed is a disillusioned archaeologist turned treasure hunter who is shunned by his fellow archaeologists for "betraying" the very idea of that profession. If you enjoy Clive Cussler or Preston and Child, most likely you will also like David Meyer. The plot concerns itself with an expedition to locate and dig up the legendary lost library of the Maya. While looking for the lost Mayan library, we get to explore an ancient Mayan pyramid, they must helicopter into a small lost canyon where they get hunted by a strange creature, assaulted by strange, endless rain, ingenious traps, and encounter bizarre phenomena. All this before the bad guys show up.Certainly it is a little over the top in spots, but it has a giant, cat-like creature, so it can not be all bad! And there is the love interest as well. Here is not one – but two strong female characters which I like. If this is a genre you enjoy, I would certainly recommend that you give David Meyers and Cyclone Reed a chance. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series more than "Torrent." I struggled with a 3 or a 4, and I gave it a "3". However, despite a few reservations, I will follow Cy on another adventure!

Holy Death Gods Batman !
Mr Meyer has a devilish imagination and produces very gritty characters. This book has managed to make me a new fan of David Meyer. I am looking forward to more of this writer.

*☆*A 5 Star Read! ☆。♥*☆*
What a fabulous little adventure this was! Thank you Mr. Meyer. The search for the Mayan library was exciting and intriguing and dangerous. My only complaint: The revealing of why and who shouldn't be trusted too soon in the story. I prefer to find out when the rest of the characters do.But man oh man, the other little twists and turns in this story was never even on my radar!! I love when stories are written outside the box!!And I'm sorry to ruin this for anyone, but I am always appreciative when it's not only the characters who are romantically involved to survive. Oh, and the bit or romance in this adventurous tale wasn't overwhelming nor was it distracting. A great story overall!

interesting premise and a lively read
I liked this book better than the author's other two - both of which we're good.the setting is intriguing and the pace is relentless, so the book finishes quickly. As always, the author has mixed together history, myth and some clever imagination to provide a complex story that evolves in a satisfying manner to a slam-bang ending.....leaving a few ends unravelled so the reader can imagine what might eventually be learned from some new discoveries. Light but satisfying reading.....and no editing problems like so many other Kindle books! If you like adventure novels with at least some basis in history, buy the book, then sit back and prepared to be entertained.

a strong entry in a crowded field.
Every one is trying to create a character with some staying power and a supportive back story to gat "serial status", I would continue to follow Cy Reed and his peeps through more novels. Good stuff.

It's getting Better
Got into the David Meyer books quite by accident,(when I'd rin out of Chris Kuzneski,David Gibbins,Daid Golemon,Andy Mcdermott, you get the drift type books) and was really very surprised. If you like the authors I've mentioned, you will really like these books and the character. There are only three so far in the series, but they are getting better throughout.this one set in the jungles, previous in the Arctic wastes and the first in New York subways. All are fast paced and do make you want to read them and feel disappointed when finished, like all good books.Only minor criticism is that it tends to be so long between books, that you forget what happened in last one and did it explain certain things in the new one or not?Otherwise, excellent.

If you like action and adventure this series is a must read.
Excellent reading. Keeps you in the edge of your seat and you don't want to put it down. Expected nothing less from this author. Have read a lot of this series and they are all as compelling a read as this one.
