The "big brother" of our other non-catalytic wood stoves, this model is not only E.P.A Certified (and WA State Approved), it burns a super-clean 1.63 grams of emissions per hour, making it the cleanest-burning large firebox on the market! Its hefty 3.5 cubic foot firebox can take logs up to 20 inches long, and it can heat 1,800 - 2,400 square feet of your living area. It has a rear heat shield (for convenience in placement). Side heat shields may be added for even closer clearance to combustibles, if you wish.

Re-modeled a 100 year old house and the main source of heat was an old Chimmeny set up in the basement which havent been used in god knows how long and a more current set up the house had which was baseboard electric heating. Since I knew how expenssive the electric is in Long island, I decided to give it a try on restoring the chimmeny and got this Great Stove. First winter went flowllesly heating my house 80degrees in the basement and up to 76 main floor. After learning the controls I was able to maintain a comfortable 72 for over 10 hours. Like any other stove it likes dry wood and if you have good piping draft it can manage non season wood as well. I clean the entire stove and my piping system only once a year since it burns so clean. I put a creosote log once a month which helps a lot.The fire box is super easy to clean since is large enough to create different burning styles or filling it to the max making a huge 10 hour fire creating enough heat to even making my attic warm. You need a good Pipe cap for windy days and an extra baffle if you want to burn your smoke better creating a more efficient secondary burn. If you are new to the wood burning heating this probably is the best choice since is bullet proof and it does things simply and efficiently. If you have more money to spend try the new ones with 2 or 3 air flow controllers giving you more options. Overall happy with my purchase and going on my 3rd year with no problems.

This is a great stove choice for homes around 1500 sq ft or less. It would heat a bigger area as long as the temperatures stay above 0 degrees F. Most days it will hold fire for 12 to 16 hours after you burn it a couple days straight and get hot coals in there. Creosote is no longer a problem in our home at all. Very efficient! Using about half the wood per winter as before with an old Earth stove. The only cons is the ash tray is useless. You might as well shovel the ashes out. Don't like the fiber board location because every time you try to fill the stove, you hit it with a piece of wood. Must start the fire with the door cracked. Customer support stands behind their product and you are wrong, so keep all this in mind before you buy it. I will be looking to upgrade to a larger stove in the near future.

Never buy englander
This review is not for this model, we have the 3,000 sq ft wood furnace, and I will not EVER recommend englander, nor summers heat, or anything associated with this brand, family had to evacuate house twice due to very high levels of c02 detection, home was deemed unliveable, as it was our only heat source, fire company determined the door was faulty, company didn wanna take blame, doesn't wanna help out at all, if your buying a good stove, save money, and get a good reputable stove, these are junk
