Very worthwhile!
If you will be hiking in Sedona for more than a day or two*, this book is a must! The book contains listings for 65 hikes, with directions to the trail head, a description of the trail, a sketch map of the trail, altitude profile, key GPS coordinates along the trail, ratings of the popularity and difficulty of the trail, and a link to color pictures for each trail. The authors have noted their 15 favorite trails; they also have lists of trails that are better in muddy conditions, that are associated with ruins, that have nearby arches, that are near Vortices, and that have some shade for hot-weather hiking. We used the revised second edition of the book for two years, but find the investment in this fourth edition worth the modest cost. (There are 10 more trails in the fourth edition than the revised second edition; also, the altitude profile and link to color pictures are new with the fourth edition.)We have, in bookstores, casually compared this book to other Sedona trail books, and feel this one is the best - very worthwhile!*(If you are just in Sedona for a day or two, and you don't purchase this or another trails book, at least do yourself the favor of stopping at the Coconino National Forest Ranger Station, just south of the Village of Oak Creek, for a free trails map and advice from a Ranger about a trail or trails suitable for you and the conditions.)

Accurate, helpful, and up to date!
I bought this book for a recent trip to Sedona and it certainly exceeded my expectations! Having traveled to the area several times before, I was hoping this book would point me in the direction of hikes that were outside my "comfort zone" and it did just that. The descriptions are very helpful and I appreciate that the trails are listed in a variety of ways - difficulty, distance, time, type - and that there are QR codes to offer additional photos.Perhaps the most helpful part, however, are the in depth directions for accessing the trail heads, as well as great tips for directions on the hikes.Truly a great book for Sedona first-timers or seasoned visitors!

Excellent Resource!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Purchased this book in anticipation of my trip to Sedona. This book saved me a lot of time researching the internet for hiking suggestions. I did about ten (or parts of) the suggested hikes during my stay. Hope to make it back to Sedona to explore some more, and revisit a couple of my favorites, namely the Huckaby, Baldwin, and Broken Arrow trails.

Best resource for hiking in Sedona
Must have for your trip to Sedona if you plan on hiking. Our phone GPS didn't work in some areas so having this book was a lifesaver. It was so helpful to bring the book to breakfast and decided what we were doing that morning based on if we wanted to do a easy, medium or hard hike, which is how the book is organized. Their descriptions of how long the hike would take was accurate for us, plus or minus 30 min.

Great guidebook for hikers of all levels!
We bought this book as a guide for hiking in Sedona ( first time trip). It was great! The authors give easy to follow directions to a wide variety of hikes in the Sedona area. We are experienced hikers and found this book plus a good local trail map to be all we needed to safely cover many miles of beautiful hiking. More than once on the trail, we shared this book with other, less prepared hikers. We strongly recommend this book for anyone, at any level, who wants to explore this stunning and diverse area.

The only hiking book I need
The authors have done it again. I don’t know how they can keep improving this excellent guide, but they do. Great idea to include loop hike suggestions (with total mileage), as well as lists of hikes for shade or for muddy conditions. I’d say everything you need to know about hiking and hikes is in this one concise book.
