Super biased introduction. There are no names of the editors or the person who wrote the introduction provided, and I was quite surprised how Eurocentric it was. Look for a different version.

Some vowels are rendered in an incorrect script and do not comply with how Iranian words and names are typically transliterated into English. Edmond Warner's introduction is incredibly eurocentric and has little to no understanding of ancient poetic traditions or comparative historic folklore. Be ready for both an incomplete translation and the ever-ironic ethnocentric British chestbeating. It is frankly insulting how much credit is given to Classicists and aristocratic translators over Ferdowsi's own talent and the longevity of Persian culture within E.W.'s introduction, which has no place in James Atkinson's translation to begin with.
