HIC Kitchen Roasting Octagonal Baking Rack, Chrome-Plated Steel Wire, Fits Oval And Smaller Roasting Pans, 9.5 x 6.125 x 0.5-Inches

Our daughter and her husband have an oval roaster that they use with their grill and were lamenting that they needed a rack to set meat on - like chicken - so that the juices drained away from the meat while it was cooking. Plus, a rack makes it easier to get the meat our of the roaster since you could pick up the rack itself to take out the meat. So, I looked on Amazon for something that would work for them. Unfortunately, the racks available that have handles are square and not oval. There weren't many oval racks to even choose from, period. The ones I could find were too big. So, I ran across this particular rack which looked like it would fit in their oval roaster and was a reasonable price. My daughter says that this works fine for them. Even without handles on both ends, they can get the meat out of the roaster a lot easier than before. So, they are happy and that makes me happy with my purchase. My note to sellers out there is to provide similar sized racks that are oval and that have wire handles on the ends to make it easier to remove the racks with food on them from roasters.

It is on the smaller side, but provides exemplary service. I can get 2 big whole chicken legs on it, or 4 big drumsticks. Sometimes I soak it a bit, and then it cleans up quickly. I take care of my things, so nothing rusts around here. Make sure you realize it is a smaller size.

This rack fits perfectly in my Pampered Chef deep baker. The rack is sturdy, well made and easy to clean.

Fit roaster great

This is a decent little roasting rack - emphasis on little. Should've double checked the dimensions before purchasing. It's still big enough for a 4# chicken, and most of a 1# pork tenderloin, but it does seem lost in my 13x9" baking pan. Also, for its small dimensions, somehow it doesn't quite fit in my 8x8" pan. Just trying to imagine what kind of roasting pan this is actually intended for. Still, I think it'll get the job done.

Pretty flimsy, but it works. I had to use pliers to bend it to get it to fit it in a small oval roaster. I couldn't have done that with a sturdier rack.

The stainless roasting rack is well made. It has a nice coating of stainless. Mine has been in the sink under water a few times already for a hour each time so it cleans up easy. And there is no sign of rust starting. As for the tweaking to fit inside a Granite Ware 13 inch roaster pan. Just hold it in the middle of each side and bend the sides in towards the middle easily, just bend slightly until each side is about a 1/4 inch from the next little rack tube and it will fit inside the roaster.

This item came much more quickly than expected. For those of you with LeCreuset casseroles, it may be useful to know that it is slightly too big to fit inside the 27cm oval casseole but should not e a problwm with the 29cm oval. It also fits easily in my Sainsburys cast iron enamelled, 30cm x24cm oval casserole. I have not seen his size and shape of rack anywhere so I was pleased to find this one. I would have been even more pleased if the bends in the bars which form the feet which raise the rack off the bottom had been a littte deeper to raise the rack just a little bit higher, but it dows to job fine. The dimensions stated are correct. I marked out the pattern onto a piece of sturdy kitchen roll, folded it into shape and tested it for size in the larger 30x24cm casserole before ordering, as this is the one in which I will be roasting 2kg chicken in; surrounded by a variety of carrots, parsnips and some onions. I am pleased to confirm that my paper pattern, based on the dimensions given, were an EXACT match in shape and size to the actual item. This should hopefully help in making a decision to buy or otherwise. Note that the item description says it should not be placed in a dishwasher. A gentle soak in suds and any adhering food simply wipes away with a dish brush or cloth.

This is a well made product. It is important for a roasting pan rack to sit only 1/4" high, so there is adequate room under the lid for a roast, chicken, etc. This rack is the best for a roasting pan that is about 12" long and 10" wide, approximately. For a full-size roasting pan, you can get a larger rack than this one. This rack is easier to clean than the racks with the handles for lifting (more parts, more to clean).
