If you have a love for textiles and photography and want to combine them to create fabulous art you will enjoy the wealth of information in this book. I was a little doubtful at first at my own abilities to utilize software such as Photoshop to create layered images. However, the availability of photo apps such as "grungetastic", as Ms. Redmond suggests, and others like "Fused", make this quite easy for the not-so-tech oriented artist who is fairly handy with an iPhone. The book covers many techniques such as creating backgrounds for digital layering, preparing and printing on fabric, using various mediums and materials on paper or fabric, and how to mount your finished piece. What I especially like is that there are LOADS of visual examples to help you execute the techniques. What you will create are beautiful, layered collage images on fabric that can be quilted, stitched and/or mounted. I think this book is good for every level of expertise, from beginner to advanced.

This book is a wealth of information presented in a useful and intelligent way. I particularly like the way Wen effectively describes the results she is looking for when digitally enhancing/modifying her photos and that her instructions are not product specific. The variety of substrates presented, the use of acrylic mediums to create 'skins', the mounting of work were all subjects are seldom presented in the same pages as fabric. I am particularly grateful for that. Here in one book I can get information that I previously had to go to three of four and muddle my way through. Thanks so much for this Wen Redmond and C&T Publishing.

A thoughtfully written guide to digital fiber art and more.
This is a long-needed handbook for digital artists who want to transfer images to fabrics and other surfaces using an inkjet printer and other accessible materials. It is packed with possibilities! My only wish would be for a glossary and index.

I first ordered this in kindle digital book. Loved it so much that I ordered an actual 'in my hands to feel and turn pages" paperback. Such creative ideas that it gets your own brain ignited into creating.

So Much Excellent Information
This book is so chocked full of information that it is hard to know where to begin. Here are some of the areas that I found most interesting and that Ms Redmond was most informative. Precoats. I had very little knowledge of precoats, and this book opened a whole world of possibilities. Printers. This is excellent information on the types of printers that work best when printing digital art - especially on unusual materials (substrates) such as fabric. However, she emphasizes that almost any printer will do fine. Substrates - lots of good ideas for things to print on from dryer sheets to handmade paper, and methods for supporting them. There is so much more. This is an excellent book.

I have long loved Ms. Redmond's artwork and wanted to try my hand at creating cloth using my own photographs. This book is excellent. The artwork is gorgeous, the instructions are easy to follow even for a novice like myself. I am hoping this is only the first in a series of books from this author.

Not what I expected
Pretty disappointed by this book. I had read reviews and I was looking forward to learning some new modern stuff but it actually was rather boring.

Inspiration and expertise in one book!
I have long wanted to print my photos onto fabric and struggled to figure out how. Wen explains many creative methods using Photoshop Elements and exactly how to do it. The book has inspired me to go in a direction I'd be wishing I could try, but didn't have a clear understanding of printing on fabric. I'm jumping in and excited! Thanks, Wen.

Super book! Totally enthused and so pleased I bought it!
What a super book! I am not someone with any experience of embroidery, I have a sewing machine, have a degree in art and design, (don't be put off by that!), thoroughly enjoy experimenting, so am hooked by heat changes of shape. I am always on the look-out for things I could attempt for use in 'crafternoons' for people for enjoyment and to meet others socially. This book is written in such a way that it hits every button and is easy to read.. Just delivered, and I have got to do the washing-up! You can't help but be excited from contents page onwards - clearly set out, and with lots of sections, each with an illustration using the technique described. There are sections on making images (I take photos of any and everything because they are 'interesting' -stack of flowerpots, close ups of mosaics, the floor of my car, the grooves of houses..... and now I know how to use them for the next stage as a piece of art. Then of course, there is the scanner.... The descriptions are not 'recipe book' but encouraging experimental...... 'lovely effects can be had using'.... It is not exclusively textile based as there is plenty of use of paper. There are sections on how to present work in different ways, - so you become an artist, and not a quilt or cushion cover!, It is of course American, and no list of suppliers etc. However on first reading this is no disadvantage. Your brain is stimulated, and you just take it from there! I purchased a 'new' copy- appears nobody else has opened it, and it arrived the day before expected delivery date range. You will gather I am enthused as this exactly the right kind of book for me. I will get lots out of it, even just flipping through the pages - every page has at least 3 and they are well printed. Damn the washing up!!

So much inspiration!
This book is packed full of amazing ideas and images of the author's work, with explanations of how she achieved the effects. It isn't a book for beginners, though - the descriptions are very brief and you are encouraged to play with the ideas rather than being told all the steps and given instructions. One problem I have is that it's American and refers all the time to the wonderful InkAid products, which are nearly impossible to buy in the UK. But it's a joy to look at and full of inspiration.
