The Governess Gambit

When I found out there was a prequel to THE DUKE HEIST, I was intrigued. Ohmigoodness! I am so happy I read THE GOVERNESS GAMBIT by Erica Ridley. I felt like I was reading The Umbrella Academy in the regency era! ☂️😍 This was the most delightful (and heart-wrenching) book! I loved every moment of it! Yes, I know I used a lot of exclamation points in this opening paragraph, but they were very necessary. 😬In THE GOVERNESS GAMBIT, we follow Chloe Wynchester (who will be the main character as well in THE DUKE HEIST) and we learn about how her found family has come together. They are uniquely talented orphans who have been adopted by a wealthy baron and go on secret missions to fight for justice from the margins of high society. This novella was such a great introduction to the family and I’ve already fallen in love with every member. I cannot wait to read everything about them in all the Wild Wynchester novels!It is not necessary to read THE DUKE HEIST, but definitely makes the story better in my opinion especially if you love finding out background on characters. Plus, it’s free on Kindle right now! So why not take a chance? Erica Ridley has a delightful way of bringing her characters to life and capturing your heart even with this 150 page novella!Content warning: parental death
