Exactly what I wanted.
So, my dog is a sorcerer. Being the clever little chi/pug that she is, she has been able to find her way in and out of most everything. After spending $75 on gate I was certain would fix my problem I came home from work to discover she had found a way through it. Pretty sure she laughed at me. Having just had new carpet installed downstairs and on the stairs themselves I was desperate for something I could place at the top of the stairs to keep her from going downstairs unaccompanied. This gate was quick and easy to install, with extra parts you can attach somewhere else too, if you want to remove and replace elsewhere. It's tall enough for my needs and when closed does not leave much of a gap at the bottom at all which might encourage determined kids or pups to attempt to slide under. Because it's retractable when it's not in use it is not bulky or obtrusive at all which I like. Best part? Though I've had less than a week, so far my little sorcerer has been entirely unsuccessful in getting past it which makes this purchase more than worth it! Whose laughing now, little girl? ππ

its alright....
So I have a baby, and he loves to go up stairs, ladders, and anything he can climb. I have a staircase, and didn't think the little gates at Walmart would hold for him not to go up the stairs, so I ordered this one, took the chance at a $60 gate, and said this thing better work. I got it in the mail and installed it myself, I have a metal frame staircase so getting the metal to hinge onto this was going to be very difficult. My husband came in with the powertools, and made the hole to big to be Able to get it griped correctly, I was disappointed, and decided to just buy screw hooks for them to latch on, its worked so far, other than the fact that if its pulled too much the mesh starts to expand and you have an uneven mesh when trying to lock it. other than that its great for the time being, but im sure im going to have to buy something new in the following months.

Breaks easily!!!!
I originally purchased 3 of these gates. Fairly easy to install but after a few weeks two were broken. If you have kids or a dog that might try to jump over it they will break at the attachment that is not replaceable. Since I already had the hardware installed in the wall I thought I would give it another chance and purchase one gate that I could easily unclamp and move to another spot where hardware was installed. Now all 4 that I have purchased have broken. I loved the idea of the retractable gate but the plastic hardware does not withstand kids or pets that might fall into it. Toddler could also unlatch if it wasnβt hooked just right. NOT SAFE!!!! Read 1 star reviews about snapping parts and that is what I went through.

Install was awful and definitely not a sturdy product!
Install was awful and the instructions are not clear. The cutouts provided to guide drilling holes was wildly inaccurate by about two inches. THEN the screws included were so cheap that they broke off inside the wall damaging itβ¦. Overall would NOT recommend. Further, the film is so flimsy that a persevering toddler could easily push underneath.

Junk
I honestly don't know how this product got such good reviews. The hardware was so cheap that screws were bending and screw heads broke off even after pre-drilling. The instructions were horrible to follow. After the 4th cheap screw i said screw it and retuned both of the gates.
