Before you run your distiller!
Lack of instructions, I don't read them anyway. 5 starts for value BUT BEFORE you drink water and run your distiller,1. Clean your water jug & all pieces to it and inside of the distiller where water goes.2. Pop the carbon water filter housing off(where water drips out) and attach the plastic hose instead. You don't want your filter getting all oily as it would take longer to flush out. If you don't filter chlorine out with reverse osmosis or some carbon filter before putting water in the unit, remember to put the filter and housing back on only after flushing.3. Fill with water, turn unit on and let distilled water fill up a separate container. Repeat at least 3 times to get all the manufacturing oil ickyness out.

Very Well Built, Creates 2ppm Pure Distilled Water
The quality overall was very good. I tested the Water Distiller with a TDS Water meter and the water produced was 2ppm, very close to complete pure water. The entire assembly is high quality stainless steel except for a silicon drop spout (see my pictures). The water takes 4 1/2 hours to create 1 gallon or 2 liters of distilled water. I use a Smart Plug to limit the time, so that the reset circuit breaker does not trigger. Make sure to wash the Rovsun on first use. There is attention to detail, for example the jug has a silicone sleeve at the bottom for shock absortion. The jug glass is very thick, as thick as glass jugs can be (again see my pictures), its not flimsy. Looking at the entire appliance as a whole, is manufactured in very high quality.

DANGEROUS
Seven months after I purchased this the reset button has burned out and when I pressed it I received a nasty shock and it burned my finger. So much electricity hit my finger that my fingernail turned blue from the bruise I received. Unit is routinely cleaned, well maintained and I am always cautious with electricity and water. The unit gave no indication of any problems until it zapped me. There is no excuse for this kind of failure concerning safety with a home appliance designed to be used on a countertop.

but I recently purchased this product and have been pleased so far
I rarely write reviews, but I recently purchased this product and have been pleased so far. I live in a rural area with pump water and have used many filtration systems without much satisfaction, but much expense. To soften the pump water, we use a salt filtration system. I thought I would give a distilling system a try. I am quite pleased with the quality of the water it produces. Crystal clear and smooth as silk, as truly distilled water should be. The residue left behind is significant of what was in the water before distillation. Also, since water must be boiled as a part of the distilling process, biologicals such as bacteria should be destroyed in the process, though this is not commented on. I would give 5 stars, but the design is rather clunky and the directions were obviously written by someone who language is not primarily English. Distillation is a slow process compared to filtration so be prepared to wait for a batch to be distilled. I do a batch at bedtime and when leaving for work - producing 2 gallons of distilled water. For a busier household than mine, this may be too slow and a larger system may be needed.

Terrible Customer Service- Product Malfunctioned
The second time I tried to use it, it completely malfunctioned. It did not turn off after the cycle was done, it ran all night long and ruined the inside of the machine. The best way to describe it would like leaving an empty pot on the stove to burn once he water boiled out. I called their customer service to get a replacement and was told someone from a different department would have to call me back. Almost 4 weeks later and still no call from the company! I am extremely disappointed in their lack of communication and prompt follow up to a big problem with their product. The instructions are unclear improper language and words are used. instructions have been translated improperly from a foreign language to english. You can guess what they are trying to convey but makes it hard to determine how to use the product.

Inst, say not to remove the top; it could cause injury. Not so, it screws off! with ease!
I thought I was getting a glass jug like my MegaHome Dist. The Rovsun has a metal top which you can't remove, so for cleaning its no better than a less expensive plastic jug type. Inst. keep talking about a catheter which is a short plastic tube which is necessary because with the filler cap in use, water drains down unless it is exactly centered. I drilled out the rivets and removed the top guide; now I can see the water dripping in the centered opening. Although not instructed, the catheter was to be used to avoid the water draining out and down the side. The catheter is difficult to insert through the hole and once inside the jug can fall off. I have been using Countertop Distillers for 30 years so with my modifications can live with it. With the metal top it is difficult to judge the level of water when full, The jug is much heavier than my MegaHome and even though it contains "clean" distilled water, it will eventually get stained inside but The cover can be removed to get my hand inside for cleaning. Although they warn not to try to remove the Rovsun top, I will do so. A poor Chinese copy of conventional Distillers.
