The wax polymerizes into cracks, cut marks and imperfections on the surface and makes it water repellant. It stops food preparation fluids from seeping into the wood - this helps prevent bacteria growth. Also excellent to lubricate tight drawers and doors and to use as an easy glide surface lubricant in the workshop on table saw, bandsaw and planer / jointer tables.
