Closest paint can get to looking like actual chrome
This paint pen is likely the closest you can ever get to looking like actual chrome. It is not just dull silver paint, it actually high gloss and very shiny. You can barely tell the difference between something actually chromed and something painted with this marker. I got it for Gundam models and various other action figures and toy projects, and used it on plastic, vinyl and metal and it worked great on all surfaces. I used it for a lot of swords as touch-up for worn-out areas, and it actually blends in nicely with the original chrome. It spreads well and doesn't goop up as long as you stop using it before it begins to dry. If it goes on a bit unevenly, it will spread itself out and smooth on its own a bit as it's drying. The trick is to not over work it and let the paint do its thing. You can go back after it's dry and add some more if necessary. It takes a little while to dry so it's not tacky, but it's safe to handle about 24 hours later. As with most paint pens, you have to be careful priming the tip because sometimes more than you want may come out, so it's better to prime it on something like a plastic cap so you don't get a big glob on whatever you're working on. The tip is rather thick, which is great if you're doing larger flat areas, but if you need to get into some smaller spaces it's better to let some paint out on a cap and then use a fine paintbrush. From touch-ups to spiffing up model projects, this pen is a great alternative if you can't afford to do actual chrome plating.

Molotow liquid chrome paint marker, 2mm
I have to say this paint marker is way beyond what I expected. I'm using it on model car kits where the seams need to be smoothed and glue joints. As with a paint marker, you need to shake it well before using. Then, depress the tip just until you see the paint flowing down. The part you are painting must be perfect before applying. All imperfections will show. Touch the marker to the part to be painted and let the paint flow. Do not depress the tip as the paint flows easily and depressing the tip will make the paint pool up. When the paint gets on the surface it has a metal-flake look to it but it quickly evens out and the metal-flake look disappears and transforms into a mirror-like finish. With it being paint, it needs to dry. Even after one day of drying, if the area is touched, it appeared to dull the shine a bit. I would assemble the parts first if possible then apply the chrome paint. Maybe a coat of Pledge high-gloss floor polish will "lock in" the shine. This paint has a much better shine than Bare Metal Foil. I used it on large areas like valve covers, show rod headers and other parts that were loose so I didn't have to worry about the paint flowing onto an area I didn't want. For small areas such as 1/24 or 1/25 trim, maybe a real steady hand and 1mm marker would work best. This is by far the best chrome replacement I've used. A bit pricey but worth the cost for an outstanding finish. It is acrylic so it cleans up with water, not thinner. UPDATE 10/16/2018: After using this paint marker to touch up chrome on one kit, the Monogram Boot Hill Express, in one day, apparently the marker has gone empty or dry, I don't know which. I didn't have that many parts to touch up and no large surfaces. One note, once you paint an area and it starts to dry, avoid touching that area again with the marker as it will damage it. Also, when using this marker paint the complete area that needs to be. If you paint an area, stop, and come back later to finish, you will see the difference in the overlap of the paint. I am still impressed with the final look of the painted parts but not with how long it lasts. Maybe I got one that was only 1/2 full, I don't know. For me, at a price of $11.00 each, it is too expensive for the amount of coverage and I probably won't buy it again.

Works great! Affordable solution to restoring "chrome look" to small plastic toys
This will get your toys looking ALMOST as good as new. If you don't want to work with expensive, dangerous chemicals, this is so far your best bet that I've found for small chrome style projects... I bought this pen after careful research and looking for ages for an affordable solution to restoring "silver chrome" surfaces to old toys (in this case, some heavily worn vintage Kenner "R2-D2" Star Wars figures). As many others online have suggested, after covering a generous surface of the plastic toy, I left it untouched on a shelf in the open air for 1 week (actually 8 days) before handling. It retained its shiny, mirror-reflective surface (far superior to the mere "silver" spray paint, acrylic paint and paint markers out there that don't look like chrome). It's not 100% perfect, the actual aluminum coating on "chrome toys" is somewhat shinier and brighter and I expect has a harder coat, being bonded directly to the plastic in most cases. I took the advice of others in working quickly, not touching the clean & dried surface while working, and not applying a second coat while it was drying. Over 1 week later, I can touch it (with clean hands) and it doesn't immediately dull as others have indicated happens if you touch it before 1 week. Overall it works pretty well. I would recommend though that the surface underneath should be as clean and paint-free as possible before you begin. I had previously painted one of these figures myself and while the reflective "chrome" coat looks beautiful, you can see the imperfections from my earlier brush strokes underneath. Now I only wish there were other versions of this, say in GOLD (then I could touch up C3PO!). I see others have tried "mixing" this chrome pen with acrylic paints to get other colors but the results have all been dull, in which case you might as well just use some gold acrylic paint, as you immediately lose the chrome effect. I have not tried applying a clear coat, as I'm told most clear coats dull the chrome effect. Update: I have had it recommended to me to use "Liquitex professional high gloss varnish" as a clear coat AFTER the liquid chrome has completely cured. I acquired a jar of this varnish (it was quite expensive, $18 for an 8 oz bottle at my local Hobby Lobby store) but have not yet attempted to see how it looks. The bottle says it is "permanent" so I will probably test it on a piece of plastic scrap at some point and post results, which of course will take more than a week to complete!

TEMPORARY Chrome
UPDATE: after several months, the paint is extremely chipped. I am happy with the initial coverup but cannot even remove the remaining product to return my faucets to original condition. This pain pen is good for an extremely temporary fix if applying to metal. It is still a cool pen to have for other uses. Very cheap way to update and touch up metal for a chrome finish. I have chrome faucets with gold accents. I used the chrome pen to cover the gold accents. When you brush it on, it spreads and blends into itself to make a smooth finish. The finish is smooth and mirrored. It is not perfect, but it is a great alternative to replacing the faucet. I do not know the durability yet but only consider this a temporary fix. I would purchase this pen again for the same use or for touch ups on other items. You cannot easily tell the difference between the chrome faucet and the accents I painted with the pen.

Perfect Paint Pen!
The BEST Chrome paint pen! Seriously, this is a near perfect mirror finish. It's pretty quick to dry (it goes quicker if you're in a warm/dry place). Great for plastics especially, so if you 3D print, it's great! My only complaint is that it's not available in other colors, ESPECIALLY Gold and Copper!

Restoring some worn chrome on some of my childhood toys and color me impressed!
Having a big toy collection--that started in childhood and never stopped--some of my older toys that had chrome that wore off over the years. I treated my toys very well, but sometimes they didn't make the chrome strong enough to last decades and sometimes it's just the oils, salts, dust and dirt from our fingers and environment erodes the chrome over time. The only thing you can do is buy an immaculate one with untouched chrome (expensive), or send the parts away to be rechromed (expensive and tedious if you needed to disassemble the parts). When these markers started coming up in collector sites, I had my doubts. Silver paint seems to fade and look gray over time. But people insisted this really did a chrome job. It did! I'm very impressed! I went and immediately tackled my worst worn chrome toys and they look spectacular now. Very happy, as to rebuy those toys with chrome as good as the touch ups were would be a rather big expense. The cons are that I read that if you touch them too soon, you will smudge or leave fingerprints but if they dry long enough, they look as good as new. Well, I haven't touched mine yet, as I just keep them on display. But if this happens, I'll update my review. As of now however, I am 100% pleased.

Worked great on my Ford Escape buttons!
I used this marker to fix the chipped window control buttons in my Ford Escape. The color matched really well, it was easy to apply, and now the buttons look much better. Great quick fix and way cheaper than replacing parts. Highly recommend!

Excellent chrome-effect paint pens!
For years and years, I've wanted to find a really good way to fix up toys whose chrome / vac-metal finish had worn off over the decades. And then I found some YouTube reviews that featured these Molotow Liquid Chrome Pens (they come in various handy sizes), so I bought a couple of them to try them out. Wow! The YouTube videos don't really do this product justice. You get a decent idea of the end results in the videos, but they're so much better in person. Having tried to photograph some of my own finished projects, it IS rather hard to get good pictures of how well these Molotow Liquid Chrome Pens work. After giving the pens a good shake and spotting the nibs a couple of times, the "liquid chrome" flows nicely. I've never used a paint pen before, but with a little practice, I soon get the hang of it. With a slow, steady hand, you can get excellent, smooth coverage with the paint. Once you've finished painting, leave the project to dry for three to seven days (depending on the thickness of the coat you just put on), and you'll find the finish is nicely set. If you try to handle the newly-painted surface before then, it can smudge horribly and mar the effect. You can also open the pens up and tip the paint into an airbrush (if you have one) for smoother, faster, and more even coverage. You'll need a little practice and patience with these at first, but once you get the hang of them, they really do an amazing job of replicating ultra-shiny chrome / vac-metal finishes. Highly recommended for model-makers, toy customisers, or for people who just want to restore their old Death Star Droid or add some zazz to a project.

Fabulous product!
After all the rave reviews of this pen from so many artists, I finally bought it and it's worth every penny and the wait to use it. First impression - - the pen came sealed with a tape around the cap - the pen tip was clear - you have to push down on the tip a few times to get the ink to flow down; be gentle while pushing the tip! - ink flows down to the tip et voila! You are ready to write. The writing has a beautiful chrome finish and matte shine when tilted in the light. For all the stationery lovers, this is a definite buy for your stash. And a good tool for any hand lettering enthusiasts also.
