Excellent Quality and cheap!
Other reviews have it right. This unit is light weight and comfortable. The optics are very good. Inside the visor it says made by Donegan Optical Co in USA model MV-5. Check the prices of other Donegan products at Amazon (What a bargain at $11.50!).The depth of field for me is 4-7". I do micro electronic circuit work and these make reading the part values a breeze. I bought 4 types of binocular magnifiers at once because I got cataract surgery and needed a good pair to do my work badly. I have received 3 of the 4 so far. One was unusably bad. This one was very good. The third one was even better and cheaper. For my comments on the others, see my other reviews. I hope you find what you need which may include a light or multiple magnification levels. For a simple, well made, very light, and great optics unit, I can recommend this one.

You Will Find Many More Uses Once you Own These, Need Lens Scratch Protection
This magnifying visor is great for small projects around the house or in a home shop. As others have mentioned, the working distance is so short, it can be difficult to simultaneously manipulate and view objects, such as with a screw driver or soldering iron. Recently, I tested a $900 pair of surgical loops with an 18 inch working distance. This arrangement is much better for many of the [non-surgical] projects in which I employ my magnifying visor. Yet, since I can't justify the price, this low cost alternative will suffice. There are a couple of inexpensive improvements the manufacturer should consider. A perforated head band could be employed to reduce perspiration. Also, a basic lens covering should be included. The lenses scratch easily. I recommend storing the visor in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag. This visor is bargain. Despite its shortcomings, I have found myself using it more frequently than ever anticipated: determining the model numbers on watch batteries, checking fuses, inspecting a damaged control board on a friend's treadmill, etc. In total, I am surprised how useful the visor has become. In fact, I wish I made the investment years ago.ProsInexpensiveSimple design - doesn't require customizationConsNo case or lens cover -- scratches easilyPlastic headband causes perspiration.

OK for the Price, but.....
As the Senior Years are creeping in I found it necessary to purchase something like a magnifying visor to continue work on my electronics projects. This product is just so so for the price. But, the lenses are plastic. There is a fair amount of distortion on the sides, tops and bottoms of the lenses though through the center of each lens they are just fine. This means you are moving your head around a lot as the undistorted field of view is only pretty much in the center of each lens. The ratcheting head band works very well, and the visor is light enough so as not to cause strain on your head and neck. I do a lot of soldering, so the lenses do get dirty fairly often. I always clean them with very diluted dish washing liquid and a microfiber cloth. Even with these precautions, I have a fair number of scratches on both lenses. They are not bad, but a bit annoying to peer around especially since you are limited to your best viewing through the center of the lenses. For the price, these are only a bit passable. When I get tired of using this visor I will spend the extra money to buy a set with real glass lenses.

Great product, great value.
I bought two magnifier visors, both made by Donegan Optical. They are both great products, and this review compares the two. One is the AccurSITE MV-5 (sold on this page). Please note that while the description calls it "Optical Industries Magnifying Visor", the product I received was in fact the Donegan Optical "AccurSITE MV-5".The other is the Optivisor DA-7 sold here:[...]Both products are great. The close focus lets me get right up next to a circuit board and I can see every detail clearly. Naturally the "7" lens gets me a little closer than the "5" lens. They are nearly identical, except that the Optivision has a more comfortable pad on the headband and it also has adjustable tension on the flip-up hinges. The MV-5 has fixed tension and I think it is a little too tight, in my opinion. The MV-5 was just under half the cost (sixteen cents to be exact) of the DA-7, so I think it is a very good deal, even considering the headband pad and fixed tension on the side hinges. On the other hand, I think the Optivision is a good deal considering its quality and comfort.

Just what I wanted
I found this magnifying visor to be an excellent value overall. Not high line type of build yet not cheap either. The headband-adjusting knob (plastic) has a solid feel and uses a small metal screw for disassembly. Pivot points are plastic with metal friction washers. Plastic lens are clear and relatively distortion free. Cushion for forehead is spongy foam plastic with self-sticking backing. This cushion could be readily replaced from time to time with stuff available from a 99-cent store. A reasonably solid product at a low weight.I'm near sighted and would say my sight is fair with familiar surroundings, I don't wear my glasses for many chores around the home or other similar areas. Nor do I need glasses for reading. This magnifying visor is said to have a magnification of 2.5X at about 8". In my case I feel, without my glasses, the magnification is 5X at 4". Overall works out very well for me.

Great for the Price
It works for what I need it for. I have a hard time adjusting to the lens but that's just me then once my eyes adjust it works great. There isn't a light attached if your looking for one with a light they are a lot more expensive. I did read the reviews on this product before I bought it and they were right.

Cheap and Poorly made
The lens popped out of the visor the first time I wore the magnifier. It is held in by a pair of plastic split rivets that just do not hold well. The image went out of focus when moved by a very small amount and the focus was difficult to maintain.I can't imagine using this product for more than a few minutes at a time. I have used other magnifiers hour after hour without discomfort or problems.
