What a newbie needs to know if you think about getting into DCC
Lots and lots of good information that you need to know if you are thinking about getting into DCC. Sometimes a little too much. But still, it is good stuff so that you can do some planning ahead of times.

Excellent dissertation
I'm getting into model railroading, and when I discovered DCC (Digital Command Control) I was amazed and wanted to know more about it. This book will tell you everything you need to know, and a whole lot you don't need to know, about DCC. I have an electronics background, but it is in analog, not digital, so a lot of the information went in one eye and out the other. But it is excellent, in-depth, and covers the subject completely.

Great Book!
As an engineer, I found this book to be excellent. Very informative and everything I wanted to know before building my system

not all books are the same
its too bad that each author could not get together and create one book, i have 3 different dcc books and all have great points but as it turned out each one is sponsored by a different dcc control company, so there are different ideas and rules of thought, so i have take the best from each to form a plan. but all n all each dcc book seems to be equally informative as far as the rights and wrongs of the wiring install;

You may not need this for a simple track design
This book has a lot of technical detail but it was not what I was looking for. Am new to model railroading and because I watched some youtube videos I got intimidated by what it would take to wire up a DCC system. After thumbing thru this book I decided to just "go for it" and wired up my Bachmann EZ DCC controller. My train worked right off bat with no programming and then I decided to program a couple engines. Went very smooth including getting lights to work. I was off and running in nothing flat. My system will get more complicated over time and maybe this book will have some value at that stage.

Great book, worth the investment
Great book, worth the investment. The problem with all books of this sort is none of them are truly comprehensive, so you'll need a library to cover all the bases. This book is well written and most of the photos are helpful. If you're getting started in DCC, you need this one in your library.

Good basic information
This is a highly technical book that gives you the complete background on Digital Command Control (DCC) used in model railroading including its history and what may be coming in the future. Be warned that some knowledge of things electrical is required for full understanding of the information provided.

A pretty good look at the dcc world
A good look at the different dcc systems available for the HO and N scale worlds but almost no information on the systems made by MTH and Lionel for the O gauge world. This new updated edition does address some of the newer changes that were not covered in the first edition (which I bought one month before this came out.

Too general
Not what I was looking for

Good start
A excellent introduction to DCC, albeit very American oriented, though more modern DCC technology is far more advanced than what this book covers.
