Great Color Laser for the price
I was getting tired of buying junky HP color ink printers that end up costing you more money than you care to admit, even under very light duty. In the last 5 years, I've purchased three printers; two HP color inkjets that probably printed fewer than 100 sheets each before having some kind of failure, much less the exorbitant cost of ink refills. Each of them saw very light use: Taxes, restaurant menus, a flyer or two; just your typical printing needs in a household. They were undependable and temperamental and the ink never lasted as long as advertised.I was fed up and had been noticing the price had been coming down on Color Laser printers and decided to give on e a try. I researched many before purchasing the Konica Minolta 1600W. While I didn't find many glowing reviews for this printer, I found very few consumer complaints. The majority of the reviews I found were mid-range. Well, my experience with this printer has been nothing but pleasurable. It was easy to unpackage and set up. The driver software is best downloaded from the Konica Minolta website to ensure you have the latest available. The starter toner cartridges are advertised to print 700 pages. But at my level of use here at home, it could be 3-4 years before I print up 700 pages! Even if it runs out early, at 500,or even 300, The printer will have already paid for itself in what I will have saved in ink refills or replacement printers over that time. Indeed, replacement toner cartridges can be expensive, But in comparison to ink at 50-60 dollars a shot and the frequency in which they need to be refilled, how often will you need to replace the toner cartridges if you do get 700 sheets out of the starter cartridges? For my money, this printer is worth every penny. As for the quality of the prints? I'm no expert, but I printed some pictures off of my Magicolor 1600W and took them to work to compare against the Dell color laser that our marketing department uses. Even they were impressed with the quality of the prints! The pros: Quality color laser for the home at an affordable price. No more frequent trips to the store for ink refills. Easy setup, depndable. The Cons (yeah, there were a couple): No built-in network support - I originally wanted a printer that I could put on my switch, but for the price, this one is excellent. You can easily add a wireless print server for under $30. No internal paper tray - This printer uses a sheet feeder type input that will hold ~100 sheets.

Been using mine for almost 2.5 years now...
Mine has been pretty much flawless. Done buying 2 sets of inkjet cartridges every year;I was only getting about 250 sheets per refill with all the 'cleaning' it was always doing and needing.I got my magicolor 1600w when the price was under $100; I see they finally stopped doing that... too bad. There was only one 'trick' I had to figure out: I had to find and download the 'Remote Printer Panel'.For my WindowsXP box, I had problems until I found and used 'remote_panel_utility_v029'.Then I had to figure out that executing the RPP doesn't actually bring it up! It just puts an icondown in the system tray. Then you just right click on that and then 'Open Panel'.There are some good reasons to have the RPP with this printer; I'll list a few of them:1. When your toner cartridges start to get low, your printer will stop working. You just need to open theRPP, and in the 'Panel' tab, change 'Toner Out Stop' to 'Off'; then click 'Apply' button above that line. This allows you to print about another 75-100 sheets before the toner really runs out.Note that the defaults go back to 'factory setting' (which in this case is 'On') after every reboot.2. Change your energy save time, also in the 'Defaults'.No reason for your printer to sit there and hum for 30 minutes after you print something. I like 5 mins(again, remember to hit 'Apply', and that it will reset back to 30mins after a reboot).3. Get a LITTLE better status message when your printer isn't working. Just click the 'Status' button.4. The 'Display Configuration' page. Mainly I use this to see how much of each toner I have left, butthere is a TON of other info in there too if you need it.5. There are other things regarding calibration and print head cleanup you can use.I don't use my printer a LOT, and mainly I use black toner, but it's been working perfect for me.My black starter toner lasted about 250 sheets. My color ones lasted about 500 sheets (I don'tuse color much on this printer, but I do need it occasionally). All it all it's been a toaster. I boughtthe 'remanufactured' toner to save money and they worked perfect (EXCEPT: the first magenta tonerthey sent me was faulty, but they promptly and without charge sent me another that works great).

If it works, it's very good. If it doesn't, you are in for a load of trouble.
The printer is fantastic: it is quite fast and print quality is mindblowing, at a very low cost! Remanufactured toners are fairly cheap, if you look for deals, although they run out kind of fast--but that is to be expected, I think, for a color laser--you shouldn't be using this for everyday bw prints if you could help it. Having been using this for a couple of months, though, I found a couple of very annoying quirks. First, it is quite noisy. In fact, it makes so much creaking noise sometimes that it sounds like it's about to die. Second, installing new toners can be quite tricky: getting the right side of the toner, especially, to fit snugly into its rightful place is pretty hard. If the toners aren't seated just right in the rotary unit, the printer will immediately jam up with a loud and unsettling clanking noise and you need to call the tech support for instructions on how to unjam it (Konica Minolta tech support is very helpful, though), which can be a bit headachy for the technologically uninitiated (as I found the hard way), although eminently doable once you know how, since, apparently, the printer is designed to be easy to take apart and replace parts as necessary. Depending on how badly the rotary unit is jammed, you may need to pretty much take apart everything inside the printer. The quality and price of the printer deserve five stars, but the annoying quirks are worth perhaps -1 star, although, if you are handy enough with printers, it shouldn't be a big deal.EDIT: Well, after having used the printer for a while, some more annoying quirks have shown up. First, it seems that some parts are quite fragile--although it may have been due to somewhat intensive use on my part. The fuser unit is supposed to be rated for 50,000 prints, but I noticed that the roller vinyl on mine has melted in a few places already after having printed less than 1/5 of that. One should be careful to limit its use at any one time, it seems. Second, I found replacement toners to be much bigger source of headache as time goes on. The "chip" in cartridges, it seems, imposes serious restrictions on getting cheap replacement toners--which are liable to give you "cartridge not installed errors" with alarmingly high probability. Third, while this is true for almost any laser printer, replacement parts are disturbingly expensive--in my case, I've gotten another KM printer of this model as a replacement hulk, not buy individual replacement parts. While disappointing these are, though, I don't consider these enough to lower the rating below 4 stars. It is still a cheap printer that works well, certainly no worse than its competition. You just shouldn't expect it to last too long, though.Edit #2: After having been using the printer for a while, the printer seems to be looking worse and worse. The prices have been jacked up quite a bit: it used to be possible to get one on sale for about 80-100 bucks, which would have made it an unbelievable bargain. Now, at 139 bucks, while still inexpensive, it's not quite the bargain, and its negatives are becoming more of a concern. If the printer works, it's terrific. But, if it doesn't quite work right, you'd be in for a load of trouble, and the documentation is extremely spotty and the customer service has gotten vastly worse over just past year so that you can't really get help. One common problem, it seems with this printer (not uncommon with other printers, too) is that it will almost certainly give you "memory full" errors when you set it up. I apparently completely forgot about the problem, which I apparently dealt with without thinking about it when I first installed the machine way back when, until I tried to set it up with my new computer the other day. After setting it up, I could not get anything to print. So, after searching the internets for a while, I've found someone claiming to have dealt with the problem by updating firmware: a big mistake! NEVER update firmware on this machine because they are more trouble than it's worth. The firmware updates basically made the printer dysfunctional: the printer no longer prints anything sent from the computer, although it can print test patterns stored on itself. Basically, it still works fine as a printer...but no longer talks to the computer. There is nothing in any of their documentations about how to deal with situations like this, like resetting firmware to factory defaults--assuming it is even possible. Talking to their customer service nowadays is no longer possible because there is seemingly no way to get to them at any realistic hour (and their ours of operation are nowhere to be found--which means I had to call them half a dozen times before I got through to a live person, who hung up on me after I asked for a clarification--no indication of when they are open in the recorded message that they are closed either.) Apparently, Konica Minolta has fairly recently consolidated and centralized its customer service operation: it can no longer be contacted at normal hours and it is now apparently full of rude and incommunicative people who will hang up on you if you say something. To the degree that the printer works, it may still be a worthwhile buy. But the probability of something going wrong seems high enough and dealing with these problems is so headachy that, unless the printer is truly dirt cheap, it's not worth it--and since the printer is not exactly "dirt cheap" any more, you may want to think twice. Plus, I think Konica Minolta people need to be taught a serious lesson for the way they mistreat their customers.

MORE THAN AMAZING...but
ALERT! updated review 01.21.2013I went through 3 of these machines but thankfully Amazon was kindly enough to take them back and replacing them each time. Now I no long uses this machine but have upgraded to the 1690MF, I will let you know in the review for that machine over there later. The problem I had with this 1600w was that:Machine #1: Had trouble picking up paper. This machines does not use a roller but rather it pushes up the tray and something else catches the sheet from the stack to roll it on to print. What an awful design.Machine #2: Had a burn mark all of a sudden on the laser roller therefore each printed page had the mark in the middle of the page.Machine #3: The roller that rolls the paper around the laser drum began to crunches up the paper as it is printing. Further inspection showed that the plastic of the roller had peeled off making rolling uneven. Probably because of the heat? That couldn't be right because I didn't print that much or that long each round. After this incident I decided to move on.============================================================================================================================================OMG! This laser printer is simply amazing. You do not need to go anywhere else to find a better printer. It works right out of the box. All of the cartridges were installed. Just plug it in and go. But not just yet. First remove the tapes, set it in place and go to the company's website and find the correct softwares for it. I'm on Windows 7 so it went pretty fast. First you need to install the GDI Driver first, then the Base Firmware, then the Special Firmware, while you're at it install the Remote Panel Utility in the Utilities tab for extra features. For some reason when I first install the GDI it kind stalled. I turn off and then the printer back on then reboot the whole computer, then it installed. I then install the Base Firmware, wait a few seconds till it flashes green again on the Ready light, turn the printer off and then on again. Same thing with the Special Firmware, wait a few seconds till it flashes green again on the Ready light, turn the printer off and then on again. I then do another reboot.BE WARNED! You will need to lower your Resolution under the Quality tab in your printer preferences settings from 1200x600 down to 600x600 if you have any hope of printing high resolution images. I swear it does not make a difference in printing quality. I was printing full page images that were 3900x3000 dpi and it worked. Took me an hour to figure this one out so now you don't have to. Also, before printing, make sure that you check how you put your papers in. Make sure that the part that feels like curling up facing the printing up. Yes, that's right, you have to feel your papers otherwise the printer will keep on trying to pick your papers up to no prevail. The printing went pretty fast. I was printing 9 full page images and it took like from 1-2 minutes. That is astounding when you think about how long it will take for an inkjet at the best quality setting. Another thing, I didn't have to do anything with the printing settings other than lowering the 1200x600 down to 600x600 in the quality settings. The colors may come out dark, what I did was I turned the brightness up to 70% and the saturation to 60%. It will match what is on your screen and no more so so dark printings. Also, I wouldn't recommend putting in more than 50 sheets of paper in the tray. I notices that it has trouble picking up and rolling it into the printer. Kinda a weird thing.Bottom line, get this printer! The ink is cheap and if you can refill it yourself then you are set for life. The drum is easily replaceable, they only cost about $60-70 on ebay.If you are refilling and doesn't want to replace the chips then there is a software from the maker called Remote_Panel_Utility_V029. You can make it so that the printer will keep on printing without telling you to replace the chips or you can't print. IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, you will have to replace the chips every time.

A Nice Printer for Money.
I have to say that for the money the printer works well. The quality for me is as good as most inkjet printers.Mind you this will not give you photo quality like more expense photo printers will. This after all is a laser printer not a photo printer. However with that being said printing photos so far on just normal paper for me have been pretty good and I am impressed. The unit is loud and and does make a lot of noise when you first start it but I am impressed with how quickly it warms up. I do not leave the printer on all the time because I don't use it that much so must of the time I start the printer from a cold start and have found that it is ready with in a minute or so. I thought it would take much longer. I was not impressed with the set up instructions. They were very confusing and were not written in clear English. It was mostly pictures. However I did not have any trouble setting the unit up like some other people in reviews I read. I loaded the soft wear as instructed and down loaded the latest drivers and I was off and running. It will be interesting to see how long the toners last. I figure with no more than I print, even with the cost of the OEM toners, I still should come out ahead on the cost of what printing I do. It would be nice if they cold make this thing even a little smaller but for a laser it is not all that big. Much bigger than my old inkjet but still has a fairly small foot print. I will warn you that this thing is heavy and not meant to be moved around a lot. So over all for the cost and the quality of the prints I am happy for now. So I will see how long it lasts and what kind of life I can get out of it.

Very happy so far. Minor headaches that come with all printers.
I bought this printer because (1) It was cheaper than most laser printers and (2) I read that one guy's amazing amazon review. What a fantastic chronology over 2 years. Keep it up dude.I've owned this printer for 5 months now. Prints great images. I am not a heavy printer by any means. I use it for the usual document. A few full color pictures here and there. Recently I used it to print full color, dark programs. Quality is really great. No smudges. No lines.Minor bugs that will drive you crazy:1) The first time I turned it on, it kept spinning and spinning and spinning. Lot of whirring noises. I thought it was broken.2) It's not the fastest printer I've seen. Takes around 1-2 minutes to warm up. You tell yourself "1-2 minutes? This guy must be super impatient!". Well let me tell you: We live in the future now. 1-2 minutes feels like forever.3) The Konica software drives me f-ing crazy. When there was an error on the printer, I had to go to the Konica website and download another program "remote panel utility". Through that program, you can alter additional settings like letting the printer print on low toner.4) The toner cartridges can be tricky when installing. I got mad because of the (2) above and started being rough when removing the black "K" toner cartridge and pulled a wheel off the end of the cartridge. It was easy to fix. I got some toner on my shirt. Not a complete disaster. All in all, I am very happy so far. I have been able to print around 60-100 full color 8x11 programs before the black toner ran low. It was my fault as the background were very very dark on these programs. I had to use the software to continue to print on low toner and eventually replace the toner. From other people's reviews, it seems the black toner is always the first to go. I have not replaced the color toners yet. Still going strong.

It works on a Mac!
Back in 2013 we bought this printer from Amazon and it has sat in our home office under a dust cover for most of this time. It was connected to a Windows PC and used to print less then two dozen color prints during that time. I am a retired IT Manager and my wife and I prefer Macs so we cleared out the Windows PCs. As I don't print much in color and my wife was working full time until she retired last month there wasn't a big need for a color printer so I bought a Canon multi-function Printer/Scanner/Copier. Now that my wife is retired she has the need to print a lot of color pages. The cost of the Canon refills is ridiculous! As our old HP Laser had just given up the ghost and I bought a new Brother monochrome laser printer from Amazon I decided to make use of the Minolta 1600W. Simply the 1600W is mechanically and electronically the same as the much more expensive Minolta 1680 and Minolta 1690 Series printers. The 1600 is just the printer part without the scanner or copier. So I connected the Minolta 1600W to a new MacBook on OS 10.13 (High Sierra) and the MacBook recognized the Minolta 1600W. The MacMacBook of course checks the Apple printer data base for drivers and when it finds none tells you. You then have the option to go to the printer manufacture and download drivers. Go to Minolta driver download site and look for the newest drivers for the Minolta 1680 or 1690 driver. Download it and follow the simple Mac driver installation. The Minolta 1600W is now happily printing excellent color prints on a MacBook on High Sierra. End of problem.

The worst printer I have ever owned.
I love a great deal & I thought I had gotten one on this <$150 color laser. I purchased this to print brochures & other color graphic advertising material. I have not overtaxed the printer as I may only print 50-100 items every so often. First off the printer seemed OK although it had a few ghost images or smudges that it would sometimes print on the next sheet. then after about the first 100 print jobs all the toner ran out. Now I know laser printers are shipped with starter toner which is incredibly cheap of them but I accept that as common practice, but this is really low & if you buy this unit you may as well order toner at the same time. The first real problem was when I went to change the toner, be very careful with this operation. It has a rotating carousel that the toner cartridges fit into & you change one close the door & hit the rotate toner button to queue up the next cartridge for changing. The rotation stopped & the next color lit up so I opened the door & the printer started rotating again then I was unable to close the door & the whole thing was jammed. During this process I broke off a little spring clip rendering the printer completely inoperable. I then decided since I have all this toner which cost more than the printer to go buy another & try again. 2nd printer also ran out of starter toner extremely quick (about 100 pages, with smudges or other flaws on about 5% of all pages) I very carefully replaced all the toner cartridges & began printing again at first it seemed OK except for the occasional smudge or ghost image from a previous page. then it started jamming & refusing to feed paper, every few copies I would have to remove the paper, fan it out & pray for success. Next the printer spit out plastic that looked like saran wrap & then flaws began showing up on every page. Ii opened it up & saw the roller that gets hot had melted & the surface of it had peeled off, so I went into the closet & removed this part from my already broken printer & swapped them out. Later the same thing happened to the second roller unit, & now 100% of sheets have print flaws in them & the printer crinkles pages about 25% of the time causing me to have to dissasemble & remove constantly. I am now shopping for a different brand of printer even though I have 99% of all toner cartridges remaining. All this trouble has occured with less than 800 pages printed on the second printer & about 150 pages printed on the first, I would say I have thrown out about 200 of those pages due to really bad print quality & felt a bit embarassed about the quality of half of the rest of the pages. The great deal cheap printer ended up costing me about $500-$600 dollars considering I had to buy 2 & a set of cartridges. Thats about $0.70/sheet + paper & agravation.Save yourself the trouble & find a different printer.

Excellent at-home laser color printer
I purchased this printer back in December 2010. I didn't actually purchase it due to need - I just stumbled upon it while surfing general printers and had a thought of looking up what color laser printers were going for at the time. When I saw this printer and the price (I believe I paid ~$260 when I bought it), I was amazed that it was so cheap, and decided to take the risk. The printer is excellent, everything I expected for a laser printer - it compares with the ones I have at my office. Set-up is simple and easy to follow (I am running Windows 7 64-bit), though I do recommend that you read the directions on how to unpack and properly unlock the printer, to be safe. The printer is small for a laser printer, but still heavy - I think this model is something like 15-20lb. I wouldn't recommend putting on a shelf or desk that isn't sturdy - mine rests under my desk on the floor.Warm-up takes about 30 seconds - 1 minute. I don't use it often so I leave it off, but if you leave it on it'll always print within 1-2 seconds of sending your doc to the printer. It does also make a little bit of noise, but it is negligable and is only slightly louder than a typical inkjet.Printing black/white text pages is a speedy and efficient experience. We tried printing a 30-page PDF and it printed everything between 1-2 minutes. The print quality is excellent: text is clean and crisp, even better if you use higher-quality laser paper.I also tried printing some high-res (400dpi) digital artwork that I'd created to test its color capabilities, and it looks more than satisfactory. Obviously it won't compare with an inkjet printer that is specialized to print graphics, but if you needed to print something in color in decent quality, this printer could definitely do the job. The artwork print came out crisp and the colors came out decent, with minimal dithering.Overall, I can't say I've really tested the printer to its limits since I purchased it on a whim, but it's nice to have something that you'd only think you could have in the office at home for such an affordable price. I've read that you can print about 25,000 sheets per cartridge, so if you know you're going to be printing a lot of docs at home, I would definitely recommend this printer.

Read this before you do your install!
I was a little worried when reading other reviews and finding some people have had trouble with an error message before even printing one page, but for the price I figured it was worth a shot. I made sure to download the newest driver for my operating system from the Konica Minolta website and figured if I followed the directions line by line how hard can a printer install be, I have never had a problem with the 2 other printers I already went through this year. Well as soon as the driver was installed and I was prompted to turn on the Printer I got the dreaded flashing error warning with a paper jam right away, before it even got warmed up. Well I loaded the paper correctly like it said to and I have the right type of paper so let me turn it off, pull out the jam and try again. Did that and bam same thing. I googled the model number and found out that on every fix website everyone is having the same problem and no one knows what to do. Some professionals say the cartridges may be misaligned and all this ridiculously crazy stuff but then I thought for a second, it is trying to feed paper in before the machine is even warmed up. How about if I just take the paper out even though the directions say to have it in. So I cleared the jam, turned off the printer and took out the paper and restarted the machine. Well it cycled through the warmup process and once the machine was flashing the green ready, I put the paper back in and tried printing a test page. It printed with no problems and I haven't had an issue since. It may just have been a fluke but if you have the same problem try taking the paper out and let the machine go through it's warm up cycle first, not everytime it warms up but just the first time when it prompts you during install to turn on the machine. Hope this saves you new buyers some time. I haven't had an issue since (knock on wood)but I will update this if I have any other problems. Please let me know if this stupid little trick works for anyone else.

Terrible Product/Service
I purchased this printer 2 weeks ago for printing some color flyers to hand out at an event. I have been in the market for a home laser printer for my art and event distributions to avoid costly printing expenses elsewhere. I thought it would be perfect for my small scale needs. The packaging was good. Nothing was damaged when the printer arrived. However, as other reviewers have stated, the printer does NOT come with the USB cable which you HAVE to have to connect it to the printer. Fortunately, I have a scanner which uses the same size cable so I just used that. The printer is loud when preparing to print or powering up, but I didn't really care about that.I printed a test run on regular paper and it worked ok. The printer took about 30 seconds to grab the paper in the tray. While it was printing, it sounded like it was eating the paper. To me, as long as the print quality is good, I didn't care about the noise. The print quality was outstanding for a home printer. Then things started going down hill. It started taking forever to grab the paper. The lights would start blinking and then the error indicator would blink. I would press the Ready Button (the only button aside from the power switch) and it would attempt to grab paper again - unsuccessfully. I went through this over and over until I just had to start hand feeding it paper.I needed to print on heavier paper. So I had some lowgrade cardstock. The printer grabbed it for a while, printed about 20 pages and then stopped - the lights were blinking again. It thought it was out of toner. It wasn't out of toner. I took the toner out, put it back in and it still wasn't happy. So I powered the printer off, waited 10 seconds and turned it back on. It STILL thought it was out of toner. I eventually figured out that we had to disable the "stop printing if toner is low" feature on the program on the computer. It printed a few more pages and then just stopped printing alltogether. It seemed to think that it was out of paper or there was a misfeed. I opened it up countless times, powered it off and on, tried different settings, tried curling the paper, tried different papers... nothing worked. After 1 hour of hand fed printing, I had about 30 copies done and a dead printer. A brand new printer just sitting there, doing nothing. So, I called Konica while I was on my break at work. Big mistake. They didn't even want to help me. They demanded information that I didn't have one me - all I kept asking for were some trouble shooting techniques. The lady was extremely rude and eventually hung up on me. I called again today before finally returning the product and had a similar experience.Do not purchase this printer. Yes, it is a great deal, but... if you want good quality and don't want to waste a lot of time and effort, just save up and buy one that will get the job done - this one definitely will not.

Their customer service department is great!
I can't say that I got the printer working yet because everyone is right and installation is a challenge. At first the toners would not turn but I discovered that one got stuck during shipping so when I pushed it back into place, the printer hummed instead of the clunking sound I heard for the first hour. Then I put the paper in and like others said, it told me there was a paper jam. When I tried it again, a spring fell on my paper and after that I just got flashing yellow lights with the message that there was machine trouble and a service call was required. I dreaded making the call because others said their customer service department was terrible but to my surprise customer service is great! They are sending out a new part overnight and if that does not work, they will send a new printer. So even though it is distressing getting this going, customer service will correct the problem easily. I am now hopeful the printer will eventually work. Yes, I bought it because of the price so I was willing to put up with hassles. Plus, everyone complains about the cost of replacement toners but you can get a full set on ebay for $103 and there are kits to refill your toners (which you can do 2-3 times) for only $50. So don't worry about the toner price and if you can prepare yourself for some installation headaches, this printer may end up being a winner!

Excellent inexpensive home laser
Can a color laser printer this inexpensive (under $170) be any good? YES! For a week I kept looking at various color lasers at stores in town and online. Most of them were around $400 - 500. I read lots of reviews by computer magazines and individuals and they all had something negative to say. I just couldn't make up my mind. Then, I read the positive review about this printer in PC Magazine and figured that for such a small amount of money I could afford to make a mistake.Well, this has been a joy. I still can't believe how good it is. The print quality and color quality of the text is outstanding. I showed several pages to colleagues at work and nobody could tell the difference between what I had printed and what we use every day at work. This is perfect for my needs at home.I have not printed pictures, nor do I intend to. That's not something that interests me so I can't comment on how good it is doing that. But for quality text (including color text) this is excellent. The colors match what I see on screen. Green is a little off but the others are spot on. And it's plenty fast enough. Not sure this would work as a networked printer but for home it's perfect. There are lots of options available that I haven't even fooled with. Maybe I could even tweak the green color more to match the screen. I don't know.Anyway, I hope this helps someone. I was ready to spend $500 and I bet those printers wouldn't have done a thing better for me than this one.

Nice for the price!
This is my review of the Konica Minolta 1600W Color Laser Printer. I have owned this printer for over two years, just recently buying another one on Amazon to replace the old one. It's used in a very busy home office, with little or no regard for its well being(it's abused by four people daily ;-) ) To it's credit, the 1600W holds its own, with no paper jams and a nice output for color and B&W prints that belies its low price. The only real problem is that supplies like toner are very expensive if you go the O.E.M. route...something we avoid at all costs. Refill toner is readily available and we use it exclusively. Also remember to never use lower than 24lb. paper to avoid jams, and never, ever use media meant for an inkjet...it even warns against this right on the media input tray...heed it if you want to see your 1600W last more than a few weeks. All told, the 1600W has far exceeded all of our expectations for the price paid, its built like a tank(mostly metal, not plastic, hence the 35000 page monthly duty cycle). If you need office quality prints with little or no problems, this is your printer :-)

Hundreds of Color Pages Right Out of the Box.
DO NOT purchase if more than $150. Buy a new Samsung instead. If less than $150, please read on. Does not duplex print.I purchased one of these for my daughter when she went to college. It lasted her three and a half years before needing the cartridges replaced. My daughter's printer instantly became the Emergency Go-To printer in her dorm when the other kids' printers ran out of ink in the middle of the night or when they lost their network connection. So she not only printed her own stuff, she occasionally had to print for her friends. They thought she spent $1000 on her printer because of the quality. She was always getting requests to print final papers at the end of each semester. This latest purchase was her second 1600W. At $100 a piece for almost four years of trouble-free color printing, it cannot be beat. Be sure to feed it good laser paper and it will return color pages seemingly without end. Again, use HIGH QUALITY LASER PAPER!PROS: Not complex: install the driver, plug the printer into the computer's USB, make beautiful color prints. A fantastic bargain.CONS: It is big. It takes some real estate on a desk in comparison to more modern compact ink jet printers. Does not duplex print. Some people claim Mac compatible with a special driver, but I have been unsuccessful.
