Comprehensive and Well-Intentioned
This book has honestly given me a source of peace. I love how it first takes the time to delve into the historical origins and functions of Hoodoo, so those interested can determine if it would serve their purpose to practice. After that, it covers a wide range of practices, from divination to spell casting/prayers to the creation of talisman, so you can tailor your Hoodoo practices to align with your individual belief systems. I especially appreciate how the author takes the time to really break-down and explain the nature of each practice, such as why certain tools and herbs, and symbolism is used. I think this is especially helpful to those that would want to learn how to make their own spells, or that would like to customize existing spells to their specific belief system. Most importantly, Mama Marie is very cautious but clear in letting the reader know the potential repercussions of any work they do, be it positive or negative. The tone of the book is not judgmental or fundamentalist, as Hoodoo accommodates many faiths, but rather the book gives an honest warning with the hopes that the readers will use knowledge with the best intentions for their situation. This overall tone of the book is what convinced me of the genuine good intentions of the author, as the ability to emit pure and high vibrations, in the same book that has some black magick spells, shows me that the intentions are there and they’re good.I really look forward to studying this book! Even if someone was against the art of practicing, the book spans enough to where you would still gain an etic understanding of the history and practices of Hoodoo. Its expansive while still leaving room for a budding practitioner to develop their craft in the way they see fit, while giving readers a friendly “heads up” of any karma resulting from the way in which they choose to practice. You can tell the author has a genuinely love for the practice of Hoodoo and how it’s been used to help so many people help themselves. It’s an eye-opening read for sure.

Just a side note
Very thorough and well organized. In 1924 Walter Plecker of the United States Census department of Virginia change the American Indians birth certificate to NEGRO. Later Melville Herskovitz of Northwestern University created the Misnomer term African American and History by changing the history of the American Indian ( negro) to African history which he gathered from Africa. He wrote the books: the negro myth , and this thing called black. the only people whom national identity has been changed over seven times by the United States Census department is the very people targeted by Black OuT history month.....18 USC 1098 genocide... Africa was enslaved in 1414 by Portuguese Christianty, in 1493 America was enslaved by Spanish as evidence by the Papal Bull Inter Catera of Pope Alexander VI. Get the book you are not black by truth ali.

Book is not well put together in the building process.
Maybe just a one off but the back cover is not put together well at all it's separated in places and over seems warped a bit. Will update after reading how the book content is and if the book holds up to my reading.
