Bloch Women's Jason Samuels Smith Dancing Shoe for Tap Dance

TLDR: Consider how YOU wear shoes before sizing up because leather does stretch.I ordered the same size I do in sneakers 7.5 (Women) and while fairly tight, I was able to get my feet in the shoes. I personally opted not to size up because I tend to tap at a fairly advanced/"heavier" level and knew that the leather would stretch from how i wear and break in shoes. They definitely loosened up after the first 1 or 2 uses but I did go ahead and purchase a shoe stretcher (I'll try to link at bottom) to get some more room in my toes.I should note that I do wear my sneakers and street shoes on the more "roomy" side so if you are someone who generally goes for a snug fit of sneakers, then perhaps you may need to order a half size or so bigger in these to be able to fit your feet in the shoe.With that said, I now find myself tightening the laces all the way after stretching them out and I am glad that I did not size up cause they likely would be too long and/or loose which I personally find can compromise the neatness of my sounds and footwork.As far as quality, these are not my first J sams but are my first white ones. They have some developed some actual paint scuffs at the toes but most smudges/spots can be polished off with some leather shoe cleaner. The sound quality still reigns. Great good quality shoes, great sounds. Bloch says size up 0.5 inch from street shoe its more like 1. Inch. Perfect would be 0.75. Wonderful shoes though just sizing is off

They are good, much more easy to get more sounds then beginner tap shoes, nice support.

These tap shoes are pricey but are high quality and have a great sound! They have a sturdy toe plate and heel plate. Heel is higher than most regular tap shoes, so you can really get a clear sound.

I wanted to love this shoe, but for me the style is too heavy and stiff. I know tappers who love them, and it’s definitely well made. Just not a style I can wear.

Regarding the fit, I wear a women’s 7 1/2 street shoe and purchased the women’s 8 1/2 in white and I absolutely love them. I’m in between the 8 and 8 1/2 but these are great since I wear socks versus tights.My first impression when I put them on was like I was wearing tennis shoes.They are definitely heavier and have a taller heel, which for me in my late 40’s, required some adjustment time. In fact my leg muscles were burning as if I were wearing ankle weights! I appreciated the extra workout as it made my tap moves stronger and more deliberate, more precise I’d say.I’ve been tapping again for the past 8 months after a 20+ year break. It’s so good to be tapping again.Any former tappers like me should get these. You deserve them! I was worried initially about the price, but I feel happy when I just look at them - it’s well worth it.Buying my first pair of new tap shoes after a long break made me remember the joy in tapping again, and that’s truly a gift. I tap nearly every day now to Online videos and my legs look better than they did twenty years ago!My advice to anyone buying Bloch tap shoes for the first time, just know to expect them to NOT fit same as your shoe size. For the majority of people, half a size up or more is necessary. Refer to the Bloch size chart, it’s helpful. At the same time, be prepared that you might not get it right the first time, and you shouldn’t settle if they don’t fit just right.Good luck and enjoy!

Great quality shoe. Fit as street size 6.5 to 6.5. Enjoying tap but I need all the help I can get so this is an excellent quality shoe with good support and great fie.

The seller contacted to check the sizing due to American sizing being different. Item arrived quickly and were perfect.

Seems like a beautifully made shoe although very small ... I normally wear a 9 and a 10 was even a bit too small ... Also ... the shoes came with no laces which I found very odd? I questioned other buyers and they reported their shoes came with laces. I’m returning them for a half size up and I’m hoping thewe next ones come with laces! I’ll write a new review once I receive the new size!
