This was a gift to a 16 and 17 year old. They loved it. Personally, I thought it was too expensive for the number of blocks it has. At their age, they weren’t going to play and use their imagination with the finished product.

Well made and easy to assemble.

What a great building set. My 5 year old grandson was able to put this together over time, and he loved it. I thought it would take a month or two, but a few rainy days while he was over, and his strong desire to keep building, meant we built in within a few days. But it’s also a good toy. The prisoners break out of the jail in a clever design and everybody’s off to get them back. This is not the same LEGO sets from the past — it’s kind of a building set, doll house, imagination starter, all in one. We were so impressed, we bought the fire station, which he got up early every morning to work on, and the hospital. The only problem is where to store them all. Such a great toy and fun to do with the kids.

I bought this for my granddaughter, who is a dedicated LEGO fan. She squealed when she opened the box. I was a bit skeptical of the appropriateness of the gift when I read that there were 684 pieces in the set. However, my skepticism was misplaced. She, age 10, assembled a motorcycle within ten minutes, moved on the the squad car, cherry picker, and helicopter in rapid succession. Before the evening was out, she had begun assembling the police station itself -- and that's including time outs to play with the pieces already assembled. Great for any child who enjoys building, has good spatial skills, and is good dexterity. This is today's equivalent of the model airplane kits but more complex. All of the assembly directions are given as drawings rather than written out.

This was a Christmas gift for my 6 year old son who asked for nothing but Legos for Christmas. Seriously, this kid has been totally obsessed for over a year now, but this was the first larger set I've gotten him. The ages on the box are 5-12, and I will say that younger kids will require some adult help, but 10-12 year olds might find it too easy. My son has generally sat down and done every other set from start to finish without taking a break, and he did need breaks from this one so I felt like it was a good challenge for him. We finished it over the course of one day, but I expect that it would take longer for kids who aren't primarily playing with Legos all the time. I really enjoyed helping with this one, and I love the detail in the Lego City sets... The little water cooler, coffee maker, and computers are so cute.

A LOT different from the Lego sets I remember from thirty years ago. Better directions, and more "specialty" pieces make for more elaborate products. The motorcycle and police cruiser in this set put the ones I built to shame.Well illustrated instructions, and modular construction, make this fun to play with shortly after opening. My almost-5 year old son loves legos, and really wanted this, but could not put it together by himself. So I first built him the police car, and he played with that while I built the first half of the station, and then second part, and then the garage, etc. We both enjoyed it. All told, took about 2.5 hours to build everything.

A must have for your child at any age. My son loves LEGO and this addition to the collection was the greatest so far. It took me an hour to put it together and it was so much fun to build it! My five year old plays with it everyday since I got it for him. Unlimited fun, easy to build guide and great price!

Gave to my brother as gift as he LOVES LEGO and apparently this is one of “THE” sets to have. He had plenty of fun building it and he now proudly displays it in his apartment! If you’re looking for something for a lego lover, the “City” sets are the way to go!
