Good for beginner
This book is more information than it is recipes. If you’re looking for a fermenting book with a good selection of recipes, this is not the book for you. If you’re a beginner looking for helpful information, tips and tricks on fermentation and a few recipes to start off your journey with, this is the book for you. I don’t love the layout of the book, it’s just rather boring with the few pictures it has being black and white. I’m comparing this to another very beautiful fermentation book I have though. This book is practical with the basics. At the beginning it goes through the different types of fermentation, typical fermented foods, supplies you will need (this is an area where more pictures would be a heck of a lot better so you have a better idea of what’s being talked about exactly), and good detail of fermented foods health benefits. Then it gets into a few recipes: kimchi, sourdough, sauerkraut, yogurt (and homemade starter instead of buying), kombucha, milk kefir, beet kvass, pickles, and real apple cider vinegar (not the trendy so called apple cider vinegar made form apple scraps, that’s fake and should be called just apple vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is made from the raw cider (I.e raw juice)). With just a few recipes 1-5 per subject. Each new subject goes into detail about the process in making the food to give you the ground skills and understanding you need.

A few errors in recipes
I really liked the sections I was interested in, but found it tough to trust after finding places where ingredients were left out of a recipe that has the ingredient in the recipe name.Needs to be properly edited for details that are a key to successful recipes.

Informative
While simple, I feel that this book has given me all of the basic knowledge needed to start fermenting. I'm sure that I'll tweak recipes after I'm more comfortable but, I'm ready to start!
