More specifically, the only mechanical geographicHow did you come up with the idea for this product? We found one of the early Geochron machines, invented in 1964, and set about to improve on it with modern materials and maps… but the engineering and charm is essentially the same. Every one is handmade in our shop in Portland, Oregon. What makes your product special? It’s such an unusually beautiful display of an eternal motion that people get very attached to it. Even decades later, their children will call us asking questions about their parents’ old Geochron. I think people connect with it because the Earth is such a personal symbol for us, wherever you travel and live… it affects the way you feel about a Geochron. What has been the best part of your startup experience? The very precise engineering takes some skill, and for those of us on the team who are used to tech… it takes more patience to get it dialed in. But in doing so, we’re proud of what we’re bringing to a new generation of Geochron owners. We all know the clock is something special.

A fascinating, scientific, mechanical, piece of art!
I have lots of interesting things but the one thing that attracts everyone, like moths to a light, is my Geochron! It is a fascinating, scientific, mechanical, piece of art. It still fascinates my family and friends after 3 years. I look at and admire it several times each day. No thinking person can pass by it without asking about me it. You can mount it flush into the wall or hang it like a picture.

Really neat- much more than just a clock.
I just spent a bunch of time with one of these over the weekend. It's really cool. A great way to feel more connected with the world as a whole and get a concrete sense of the seasons and the year.
