Aussie Purple Shampoo 9.6 Oz

I am returning this shampoo. I have color in my hair, as well as a Brazilian Blowout. My stylist has told me that it is VERY important to the longevity of my hair treatment that I use a shampoo with NO sulfates. I looked at a number of "purple" shampoos before choosing this one because, in the comparison chart of their products above, this one says no sulfate. I received the shampoo and the first three ingredients: 1) Water 2) Sodium Lauryl Sulfate 3) Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I'm so glad I read the ingredients before using this and ruining $200 worth of salon treatments. It's disappointing to see that Aussie has misrepresented this in the description of their product.

The first time I used this on my salt and pepper hair...Wow! Removed all the brassiness and lightened the brown patches so that my hair appeared to be one soft shade of gray with lowlights of light brown. I love it.

This shampoo smells fabulous. It's sort of ......citrus-ee. It's a very unique scent, but very clean smelling. However, the point of the shampoo is to help tone brassy hair. For this, it doesn't work at all. It's basically like regular shampoo with a drop of purple dye in it. Most purple shampoos will at least look very pigmented out of the bottle (some don't do well with depositing the color, which is where the problem comes in.), but this stuff barely looks purple at all when you rub your hands together. It's like the purple just disappears. It did absolutely nothing as far as toning my hair goes. Very disappointing.

Cleans great, smells delicious, brightens up my grey. It’s my favorite shampoo now. My husband can use it too. It smells lovely without smelling distinctly feminine.

So it does make my light hair not so bronzy but I have to be careful with it as it easily makes my hair brittle. I don't use it much and of course, don't use it every wash but make sure to use a good conditioner afterward! If you do that then it should be fine, the small bottle is lasting me a decent amount of time so that makes me happy and it does its job so just condition your hair and it's a good product!
