and this is very important and easy to learn from
Its a must have. I have all of the guitar books from the Hal Leonard series, and this is very important and easy to learn from... Can serve as reference or you can just go through all scales.

A good book for learning scales
This book is really easy to look up different scales. It does show the root note of the scale which is better than some of the other books that I bought. Nothing fancy but it does the job.

Great Buy For The Price
You couldn't ask more of a book about guitar scales. It is organized in a very logical manner showing scales and modes in all 12 keys. I haven't counted, but it boasts that it contains over 1300 scale diagrams. I'll never master all of this but it is great to have it handy to reference when I need.If you are learning guitar don't even hesitate - just get this book. It's companion book - Incredible Chord Finder - is also a must-have in my opinion. It is physically smaller and so fits easily into a gig bag or guitar case.

Good manual.
This is a good manual. Unfortunately, I am not very disciplined when it comes to learning how to play a guiter and it has not been used to its fullest potential.

Essential
This book changed my entire playing world. I use this all the time when playing on backing tracks for practice, I just riff along with the backing tracks and experiment with the right box patterns.

Meh?
This book is alright but would be great if it included the interval value of the notes. If you want to see shapes it's alright but could be better if it were drawn to scale. I have the book on the bass as well and mark the pages like a coloring book to show the arpeggios.

A Great Book for Intermediate and Advanced Guitarists Wishing to take their Knowledge of Scales and Modes to a New Level
Having owned the printed version of this book for several years, I was delighted to find that it is now available as a Kindle download (along with various other respected Hal Leonard titles incidentally), therefore making its content more accessible when out and about. It is a detailed and thorough reference to scales and modes. Personally, I have found it to be particularly useful when exploring modes and scales that I would not normally have considered, when seeking new options for improvising and creating original guitar music. It is important to mention though that it is an advanced guide and only suitable for the beginner, in the respect that the descriptions of the different scales and modes do provide a detailed overview of what each of them offers and a logical order in which they might be studied. The greatest benefit is for those who have a reasonable grasp of the fretboard and can apply that knowledge to the scales and modes, in the form in which they are displayed, which would probably prove confusing without this understanding. I found the details about which notes are included in each example to be particularly helpful, as this enabled me to explore the scales and modes in my own way, at times, rather than feel an obligation to stick rigidly to the book’s structured interpretations.Overall, a great book for those guitarists ambitious to take their knowledge of scales and modes to a new level.

More scales than you could shake a stick at!
Good - comprehensive, but for an beginner could have have some suggested fingering to go with the fretboard patterns - working through it though!
