I use these to keep my ISO and resin barrels up to temp in the winter for spraying foam insulation. I bought them when they were on sale last month. I need two more, but I'll wait until they are on sale again. If you put them back down to 403.00 I'll order two more immediately.

I must say the concept is a great solution to warm up 55 gal drums of anything. However, I bought a similar model BH55RR in Jan 2016 & it no longer works. I've only used it probably 12 times & was always careful about how I stored it etc. Knowing a bit about how things like this work (heating elements) I made sure not to fold it, but rather allowed it to stand on its end in a very loose coil. After mine quit working I took it apart to see if I could fix it. It was clear that the "delicate" heating element was broke right at a point were this blanket was FOLDED to ship in its small box when it was initially sent to me. In fact several other creases, hot spots, can be seen along other parts of the heating element. In fact I still have the original shipping box, & I remember when I first unpacked i thought it was odd that it was wadded up in such a small box. Like I said its a great idea & for the first couple years it worked great. But if all these products are folded up & shipped out in the same SMALL boxes, then I foresee the same problems. I liked using this but I can't afford to pay another $450 or so for another one. The smaller 55 gal drum band heater works just fine. It's just a little more awkward to use.

This blanket works great keeps drums warm even in freezing temps.

Powerblankets are a great way to heat precisely what you need to heat without worry of uneven, intermittent, overheating or inefficient power use.I find them to be job site tough, durable and field repairable with the Vinyl repair kit utilizing the HH-66 glue. They are heavy duty and can take a lot of abuse. The machine sewn stitching is very heavy duty. The belts, clasps and reinforcing are securely attached to the blankets. They can take a lot of use.The thing I notice the most is how even the heat is across the entire mat. Whatever you wrap or cover with it you can count on an even heat spread. If you add a temperature controller like the Beacon controllers with which Powerblankets has teamed up with, you can precisely dial in the temperature control . I like how you can measure the temperature at several points. Inside the blanket, the surface of the blanket or the temp of the product. Beacon even has an IOT connected controller than you can control and monitor remotely.These blankets are pretty easy to handle. They not only heat but also insulate so they have some thickness to them. However they are still relatively lightweight for their size. They are somewhat rigid and that makes them easier to handle. It is kind of like working with lightweight workout mats.Unlike some other materials they remain flexible in very cold environments. Even the cords remain flexible down to colder temperatures.Made in the USA. Yep. Designed, engineered and manufactured right here at home. ETL and UL/CAS listed. They have an average lifespan of constant use in around the 4-6 year timeframe. 1 Year Warranty.This weather resistant BH55RR-80 uses 400W / 800W nominal power with Rapid Ramp feature. 3.33A / 6.67A. We are at that weird time of year where it is sixty one day and FIVE the next, so I was really happy to receive this item for review as my friend prepped for an upcoming spring farmer's market and needed to make sure her honey was able to be packaged. The night it dropped down to five degrees is when she tried this out and BOY was she thrilled to see her sweet honey still ready to go the next morning! I know these are pricey and I'm not sure what else they are used for, but it is worth buying if you have THOUSANDS of dollars in merchandise that you can't even touch because it's frozen. You will find it very useful and I hope the price drops even more!

This blanket works well for so many applications! Aside from being great at heating a drum, it works great wrapped around my upright greenhouse to help keep the frost my setting and cracking the vinyl covering. I’ve also used it to surround my homebrew setup to keep the ambient temps up overnight so my yeast doesn’t get too cold. It even works great under a blanket to create a heated dog bed!This product works just like it says it will and has more secondary uses than I could’ve imagined!
