Q: how this work on necks with binding ?

It does work on binding but in certain area's of the fingerboard with or without binding, it will dig in to the sides if they are not perfectly straight.

Q: How are the files held in place? Set screws?

No set screws. Solid block of wood with 2 grooves that each file appears to be pressed into. If there is any adhesive being used it doesn't show
