Very informative from an Academic authority on assembling visual literature
I have been amassing a collection of literature on contemporary artistic media creation for the printed consumables (i.e., comic books, graphic novels, illustrations, etc.). I find WIll Eisner's books to be first rate.

Bad Kindle version
I don’t recommend the Kindle version. It’s badly formatted. Here’s a screen shot.

Useful tips for the beginner artists
The media could not be loaded. Â Telling a good story is an incredibly difficult. In this book, Will Eisner shares with readers some of things to be aware of when tackling storytelling using comics. He talks about techniques to use to help build a more convincing story. This would include comic tools like lettering, building momentum, using visual clues and writing. Examples include how props (i.e. guns) are held to reveal human characteristics. There are lessons on how to engage readers, how readers think and mistakes to avoid. These are followed with lots of comic strip examples -- including a selection from different comic artists. Unfortunately, they aren't captioned page by page like it was done on his other books. The comic examples are great, you know it but you don't know why they work. The book doesn't really go in depth into all aspects of storytelling. There's no talk on character development, story arcs, conflict management and specific story elements and tools.Overall, this is still a very useful book for anyone who's just starting out and thinking of drawing their own comics.(More pictures are available on my blog. An updated and invaluable edition for wannabe graphic writers.
This book's previous editions did not include the online world. I thought I had lost my earlier edition of this book so I nearly returned this newer edition (while it was still being delivered), having not seen anything on here about new information being added. I overlooked the smaller print that reads "INCLUDES new and updated MATERIAL," (so that's on me, hehe) but you have an option to search inside a "previous" edition of this book which needs to be updated to this version. As for the book itself, it is a great resource and even more so now that it has newer information on web-based comics. BUT the sections on those comics, in THIS edition, although informative, are still a long way away from having everything a reader could ask for since web-comics are still rather new in comparison to printed comics.

A fine primer to the uninitiated.
The genius of one of the great masters is on display here along with looks at others in the field fora well-balanced overview of graphics narrative. It is intended as an INTRODUCTION to the subject, if you're looking, as I was, for pointers in TECHNIQUE and TRICKS IF THE TRADE, you'll feel let down. It's a great book, full of illustration and sudge, but I was looking for more instruction than introduction.

Pretty good
Total beginner to comics here, I liked the info in this book, it was a good beginner level book. On a kindle reader on ipad the format is a bit odd so that is a downside, maybe getting the paperback version is better

Kindle version is unreadable
I can't say what the actual content is like because the Kindle version cuts off the last four or so words or every sentence and makes the graphic content unviewable (even when you try different view options). Am trying to get my money back so I can buy the print copy.
