I love these timers! I use them with my special education students and they are a great way for my students to keep track of how much time has passed. I like these as opposed to digital timers because they are quiet so that they are not disruptive or distracting to other students in the classroom and for students. Students on time-outs like to focus on the falling sand which has made enduring time-outs for my students more bearable. There are 2 sets so I can lend them to an extra to another teacher or set two students up with the same time interval. They are very durable as well. There is a plastic cover over the inner hourglass.

These hour glass sand timers are a great value and a wonderful teaching tool for concepts of time and mathematics! I believe the best learning is "hands on," and these colorful timers really fit the bill. The experiments that even a young child can do are limitless, e.g. comparing the 30 sec timer to the 1 min or 2 minute timer, etc. The visual of sand through the glass (plastic protected) even harkens to literature --"the sands of time," and easily timing simple tasks takes on meaning and understanding for the young mind. ("You need to go to bed in 5 minutes! Starting now!)The timers come as two sets in a box with fun sayings about time printed on the box. A very nice gift for parents of young children or children over 3 yrs. And by-the-way, they're fun for the old guys, too!! Six stars...

Tested one of each color, several times.Red ran long by 2-3 sec.Orange was long by 6 sec.Yellow was long by an entire 30 sec.Green and Blue were accurate.It helps to touch/spin/bump/move them somehow a couple of times while they are running. The sand dips in the middle as it empties, creating less force from above and making the flow of sand slower. Moving them around slightly helps to level the sand out. Also, unless you bump them each at the very last couple seconds, the last small bit of sand sticks to sides and doesn't empty.Products seem like they won't last years, but are decently made.I was not expecting them to be accurate to the millisecond (although 30sec on off on the long one is kinda unfortunate), and they were very inexpensive, so overall I'm happy with the product and WOULD buy again.

Love the color coding. I am using these for some really intense workout routines which require that I don't change my pace, just increase or decrease my timing on each move. These are really fun to look at. I have memorized the colors/times so that I don't have to wear my glasses while I sweat through out my routine. Thanks so much! These are awesome. I would think every trainer and trainee would want a set for the gym!

I teach 4th grade and part of my positive discipline plan is a time out desk. Students who need a time out will use these silent timers until they are ready to return to our activity. I have students choose the time they need or use a variety of timers to total the desired minutes. I used to have them silently count their time out minutes, but this way with your timers they can still pay attention to what the class is doing and let the sand do the counting!

These timers are wonderful. I use them for my card and board games so it is great to have 2 sets of each time and in the time spans provided. The packaging protects the timers during shipping and for storage.

Looked at all of these rediculously expensive electronic timers for board games ... and then settled on these inexpensive sand timers that do the job. Love that they come with two of each. Wish they time markings on both top and bottom but that’s a minor issue. They also aren’t the most secure in the case (which is in itself is a nice addition) but that’s another minor issue.

We love our sand timers!!! We have a 3 year old that we are using them as timeout timers. It’s working great! I love that different colors are different times. We are going to use the 2 minute timer for brushing her teeth too so she can see how long she needs to brush. They came quickly and as described in a nice little box and work great. They are a simple yet functional product. I would recommend and feel it was a great buy for the price!
