I want to speak Greek and I feel this audio helps me!
May boyfriend is Greek, so speaking fluent Greek sounds like a great idea. Its not like I have to pass any language test or something, so for my purposes this audiobook provides great source of speaking, live language which I can practice on Greek people around me. I am Russian and learnt English when I was about 20. So I know how challenging it is to learn a new language. But the main thing - keep it going! You might get 20+ grammar books and put them on the shelf after couple of days. Audio 'parrot' can be with you in your car as long as you need it, still fun. Learning in traffic jams etc. And then if you feel like you need more 'serious' lessons - you can go for a big grammar textbooks with exercises - one you feel like you want to keep improving your language skills.

Very effective method.
It's often difficult to hear exactly how a word is supposed to be pronounced. Is he using an "M" or an "N"? This could be solved by spelling the more difficult words phonetically or by including a small workbook. Otherwise, I recommend this as an easy and enjoyable way to learn a foreign language.

Easiest Way to Learn a New Language
Pimsleur is the best way to learn a new language quickly. I went through the eight lessons in two weeks and could use what I learned. What a bargain!

Best of a bad set of choices.
Greek is a tough language even for persons of Greek descent not taught from an early age. While attempting to be conversational Pimsleur gets too complex for what is necessary, if you were to visit Greece. I give it 3 stars because this is the best of the bad to mediocre choices out there. The package and the discs were in excellent condition (perhaps never even played). So, the provider did meet my expectation. The best Greek tutorial is to go and live there.

Pronunciations not always clear, especially the female on the disc. Not as helpful as I had hoped.

Didn't meet expectations
This product didn't meet my expectations at all. I've heard such wonderful things about the Pimsleur series, so I did have high expectations. My complaints are thus: this is audio only. For some this might be just what they want, to be able to speak only, but it drove me crazy not knowing how to spell the words I was hearing (if I didn't already know how to) Which brings me to my second complaint: there are 8 lessons on the 4 CDs and the amount of vocabulary that one learns is not very much at all. I already know some Greek and I was hoping this would really boost my ability, but I don't think it did much for me at all. Also, it never mentions anything about grammar, how to form plurals, conjugate verbs, etc. Perhaps the more complete course is better, but I have not tried it myself.Positive things about it are: you learn some basic phrases & responses, voices are native speakers (I believe), and the "listen & repeat" or feedback is excellent! (Actually, my son is in speech therapy and they also use this method.) You listen to the word or phrase and then repeat it. It might seem silly because there is no one there to hear you, but the idea is that you hear *yourself* and can adjust your own pronounciation, but also "complete the circuit" in the language center of your brain, whereby you hear it, imitate it, and hear it again (your own voice) thereby cementing not only the vocab but also the individual sounds of the language. In the end, I rated this a 3 because it is a very good beginning for those who only which to speak the language, but if you want to have a more comprehensive understanding of the language, this will disappoint you.
