Mercedes Sprinter Third Brake Light Backup Camera - Replaces Brake Light + 130° Viewing Angle

Great product

I purchased this particular backup camera because it was a very close duplicate to the existing unit on my Sprinter van conversion. I had previously purchased a less expensive unit, but it did not work with the existing wiring (4 pin vs 5 pin). The clarity and field of vision of this camera is much better than the old unit. What I did not like is that there is no backup grid line. Rear View did not provide any instructions with the unit and when I went to their website to open the instructional PDF I got an error message. I also sent an e-mail to them via their website and have not received a reply in over a week.

Purchased this as a replacement to the OEM camera that became fuzzy and unclear. This was easy to install. It wasn't plug n play because the original connectors on the Sprinter were spliced, so this had to be spliced in too, but it wasn't difficult to do. Took all of 15 minutes, once prepped. The camera is crisp and clear. Cost is way too high, but it was a perfect replacement for me. The camera angle cannot be adjusted as I thought (different model required) so you can only see one car length behind the vehicle, but it is a wide angle. Therefore, you cannot see traffic behind you more if than a car length back (maybe two from the bumper). Great for parking. Works well for knowing what is immediately around the back of your vehicle, but not good as a rearview mirror replacement because of low angle. Shipping was quick! Quality excellent. Recommended.

Pros: Works great, good resolution and color, it could be a little brighter at night though. Comes with ample hardware and wiring.Cons: The height and angle of the camera causes the corner of the roof to block the bottom 1/4 of screen. I can't see my bumper. If you want to use this to see your hitch, forget about it. This is a custom camera built for a sprinter, seems like the 1st time the r and d guy put it on a van this problem would have been dealt with. They should add a pic of the actual on screen camera view to product page.
