By far the best camera for simple underwater shooting compared to compact waterproof cameras
Best underwater camera I have used for snorkeling. The large sensor size and wide open f1.8 aperture can’t be beat for low noise 20 megapixel images. Almost all images can be recorded with low ISO. Excellent resolution and vivid Colors that can be edited from a raw (adobe DNG) file the camera saves. Even with some cropping there is enough resolution for good 8x 10 prints. The underwater environments poses challenges but this camera simplifies that. I used the camera for the first time on the Great Barrier Reef for snorkeling ( surface swimming to 5 feet deep) and got great shots most of the time. The autofocus missed my intended target a few times, and the camera is slow to save and reset for the next image when saving to raw format even with very fast memory card. Thee is no zoom with this camera but you have to understand that focus adjusting is almost impossible while snorkeling.I highly recommend the wide angle lens that fits on outside the lens ring. The wide angle lens allowed me to get close where the issue of particles in the water obscuring the image were minimized. My results were much better with this camera compared with my Olympus TG1 or lumix Tg5

DONT BUY THIS CAMERA
EXTREME FALSE ADVERSTISING ON WHAT IT CAN DO. Only 2 of every ten photo was in focus, so Auto Focus not good. The Green versus Blue, is not better than my GoPro. so I invested in this unweisely .the Video is Zero, jumps and clicks, This CAMERA RUINED MY DREAM VACATION.

Love the camera - The App not so much...
Let me preface this review with I am a total newbie when it comes to underwater still photography. I’ve only used my GoPro previously and 99.999% of the time I was recording on video. On its inaugural dive trip with me, time the camera did freeze up on me. I couldn’t get it to do anything. I learned that you can force a “reboot” of the camera but I didn’t know that until after the dive. Wish I had known that before I was 90’ down.I took some amazing photos that had so much depth and color even I was surprised that I was the guy behind those shots. I still have a LOT to learn with macro vs zoom but what I found was that I struggled to decide on which mode to use (digital zoom va macro) and usually by the time I configured the camera to what I felt was the right set up, the sea life I wanted to take a picture of swam away. I’m sure with practice with the camera my experience will be better but as a total newbie, I did struggle a bit. Also, the app (Link 123) that works with this camera is poorly designed. Unfortunately it’s the only choice we have. It appears to me that Sealife did NOT create the app. I want to be fair about that. As an IT guy my expectations on these apps is pretty high anyway but I don’t particularly care for the app. I opted to just download the micro SD card to my laptop when I completed my dives for the day.Overall, I love the camera but if you’re a brand new diver I would not recommend this camera as your first camera. It requires some thinking and planning and if you’re new to diving your brain needs to be focused on your buoyancy and the rest of your faculties until you’re more comfortable under water as this camera will require you to put some thought into your shots. That said - I LOVE this camera and am glad I bought it.

Easy and durable camera. Good pictures
The location of the record button is too close to the power button often confused while record is intended. Overall very durable and takes great pictures. Some editing required do to most pictures still have quite a bit of blue even after the filter.

Great camera. Underwater mode works well
Great camera. Underwater mode works well. Only downside is the delay between pressing the button and the picture taking.

BEST DIVE CAMERA EVER
I own The Sealife 10000. I decided To upgrade and this one is awesome. Totally syncs with my iPhone so when I’m out on a dive trip I no Longer need to wait to get home to a computer and download pictures and videos. I can Sync them into my phone right there and then. And you can snorkel without the outer casing.

Focus issues
Interesting that so many reviews overlook the most glaring issue of this camera. It has major auto focus issues. Sure you can get it to focus if you take the time to figure out why it has trouble but is that what you want in a camera, especially underwater when time is limited? A lot of the other features that are really good about this camera will never come into use when it is discarded for a better camera that focuses correctly. It has a hard time focusing when the lighting is optimal let alone in special conditions. There is no zoom in the photo review so you can't really tell if you have a good image or not by zooming in on detail. Again, not arguing that it has a lot of really good features but if you can't rely on the focus why bother. Mine is now collecting dust as I would not even give it away in the chance of ruining someone's dive. Spent way too much time with this when I should have returned it. If Sealife corrects that issue complete different story. Don't be fooled by the reviews that say "Lag in focus" or "slow auto focus". Should read..."Poor focus and auto focus" Everything else is 4 and 5 star.
