---- Update 2018: it broke after a couple of trips. One of the legs just broke. I can see that it is made of aluminum and that kind of cable is like one used for artificial flowers. So when you fold it various times, it will break. Mmm so I'm not that happy about the quality. I do understand about the flexibility, but it will break after some uses then....I also noticed that there is no clip that can hold correctly the phone (second photo). If you move it, be careful not to drop the whole attachment with your phone and break it!!!------------2016It works pretty good! It works with big phones but it gets hard to get them in. I'm afraid I might break it. I'm amazed with the remote! Worked with the regular camara app from the phone.I had one of these before and I remember using it everywhere but that one got rusty at the beach. Hopefully this one with plastic parts would last.

Functional tripod and Remote, but Leg broke off after 4 months
I would have given this more stars, but the metal inside of one of the legs sheared off from repeated bending after 4 months of use. As far as tripod and remote functionality, I didn't have a problem, but I wish it would have held up better.

Nice gift, well received!
This was purchased for my mother for Christmas. She builds fairy houses and had interest in making youtube guides, so I got her this tripod for her iphone which has a great camera, and a book on how to make youtube videos.
