Excellent product and price!
Printing quality was excellent. When I was a child at a private school back in the 1970s they used the original McGuffey's. Even then I wanted one I thought they were so great. Children love the stories. I love the "slate work" showing the time period from where it came. To me this looks almost identical to the original except the front cover was printed ever so slightly crooked, not very noticeable though and there is a barcode on the back, not surprising for out time. I highly recommend these great books for children today. I tried to buy an original from the time period years ago at an auction and I stopped when it hit $300. Overall a great price and a quality product.

A Nice Facsimile Reprint
This is a nice facsimile reprint of the McGuffey Second Reader. It will appeal to those interested in the history of education and those who are looking for additional materials to strengthen their child's reading skills.

would not recommend
I would rather have the hardback version. Ebook is not as good of quality, and there are no pictures. Kids use our print version from the library instead.

It's just not the same without pictures
This particular kindle edition, volunteer created, has no pictures. For the McGuffey readers that's a huge loss. I recommend getting some other edition.

Hard to read print
My review is not for the McGuffey content. My review concerns the quality of the printing. I purchased this copy so I wouldn't have to print the lessons off at home. The ink in this book is so light that I have had to trace over multiple words so that my daughter could read it without straining her eyes. I do not recommend buying this particular copy from this publisher.

school resource
I love the free books for the Kindle. They greatly expand our homeschool reading beyond what we can find at our library as well as allow us to keep a copy as long as we need. It has been fun to compare the teaching of the topic over time.

Interesting, old-timey education
Interesting book -- I got it to see what education in America used to look like, and it seems a lot higher level than modern education targeted at the same age group.

It is an EXCELLENT resource for beginning readers
This is ONE of the only ways by daughter learned how to read. It is an EXCELLENT resource for beginning readers. It's not a typical beginning reader book but definitely works. And of course it does help if you are a fan of "Little House on the Prairie." :)
