No Joke, They Work.
Well, 9 out of 10 rings worked. One of the rings had a leak in the seam, so it was a non-player right out of the box. We had previously used a whole pool solar cover. That worked really well, but what a hassle! Pulling the thing off, putting the thing back on...PLEASE! Oh, almost forgot about keeping the thing clean. Forget about it. Got turned onto the solar rings by a friend that bought them (for a lot more money), from a local pool supply store. She loved the rings, and her pool was always the correct temperature. We researched and found the same rings on Amazon, so we decided to pull the trigger on the purchase. Product arrived on time, and well packaged (like almost all Amazon orders do.) We've used the rings for the entire season, and have been exceptionally happy with their performance. Easy to pull off and put on the pool. Also, easy to clean (lots of dust were we live.) The price is still rather amazing for a little blow-up piece of vinyl, but what can you say. At least they were cheaper than the ones you'll find in the stores.

only buy if WIND is extinct where you live
FACT, i live in a windy area, this was not my wisest purchase.THAT BEING SAID. I put these in the pool on a day where there was barely a breeze. mind you there are days i can't grill, there are days i can't see the bottom of the pool because the wind ripples are soooo bad. But on the day i first encountered the issue, my wind reader, showed a 4mph breeze. I could see the bottom of the pool, i was grilling out, i didn't even realize there was a breeze and these were flying away, flipping over and essentially useless. That being said. I've since purchased 10 more WITH ANCHORS, and i couldn't be happier. THEY DO hold the heat in, they DO warm up your pool when its warm and sunny. I requested a return from the sender stating they didn't work and would like to return them or exchange for the rings with anchors & this was the emailed response they sent me pulled straight from the email" The problem is... we sent out what was ordered and can only have assumed this was checked before ordering. This is a product we cannot return/refund might call the company and see if they might suggest a fix."Even though it claims to have a full refund 30 day return policy. However, oddly when they "closed" the Amazon return ticket this is the language the put on itDear (ME)Pool Supply Warehouse has closed the return request listed below.Reason for the closure of your request: Solved a technical issueSeller comments: We do not carry that model. If you do not want these you can send them back to us for a refund.Thankswierd, because their email to me clearly said i was screwed. Way to manipulate the system. Lesson learned, i guess.

Very expensive, but seem to be effective
Update: After having them on the pool for a year, I took them off. It’s dusty in Arizona, so they collected dust and became unsightly. I don’t think that is the fault of the rings, just the combination of a dusty environment, infrequent rain, and I found that I don’t need the solar covers. We generally swim in the summer when the pool is a good temperature without the rings. In the cooler months, we’ll heat it for specific events (family in town) but that’s it. So any solar cover wasn’t providing much value and we love the look of the pool without anything on it.I deducted a stars for two reasons, the first is they are really expensive. Second is they can be a bit much to handle. They can be a bit unwieldy when taking them out of the pool, draining the water, and then you have to make sure they're in the shade or covered to prevent them from cooking themselves in a stack. As others have indicated, proper inflation of the outer ring is important for them to connect properly (and not blow away). The inner inflation is important so the material sits on the water and doesn't get submerged. When the sun is out, it does appear to impact the temps a degree or two. I'm in the Phoenix area and the pool is in the low 60's without heating (air temp goes from low 40's at night to 60/70's in the day). Truthfully, I'm not thrilled with the visual graphic and is probably a reason for deducting a star too. On the plus side, I believe they're less of a safety hazard than a contiguous cover. If someone fell in, they'd likely be able to surface and get out of the pool without trouble.

Work great! A little effort to get them set up initially..
These rings are GREAT! As you read the reviews you will see some valid points about inflation and them laying flat, HOWEVER, you do need to follow the directions. Let them lay in the sun longer than suggested. We did an hour at an 80 degree day. We had a few not lay flat and we placed back out in the sun. We found that inflating the ring just a little first and then laying in the sun, flip them over and let the sun hit both sides.. then inflate the ring the rest of the way until firm. Couple breaths in the center, LAST! This solved our problem. All 10 work. I will say that the closures on them are very bent from shipping. Again, the sun helped that. Some wouldn't stay shut at first. As I inflated I massaged the closure back to the way it should have been. It DOES take effort to get them set up initially. Most of us don't have the patience. I only did because I read reviews and wanted to save the money each month. They DO work and even if for only one season they will pay for themselves in a month..
