This hat is fabulous. Leather is a little thin.
First of all, this hat is fabulous. Considering that genuine leather tophats sell for $200+ at steampunk/Renaissance/Victorian festivals, these are a bargain under $100. Note: keep the cardboard inserts to keep the hat in shape as the leather is not super thick. Fits like a dream (I have a pinhead, so size Medium was great, even though I wore a wig). I did wear a separately purchased goggle set on the hat. If you do this, definitely do NOT keep the goggles on the hat unless you're wearing the hat because even the light squeezing from the elastic headband on the goggles was starting to cave the hat in. I store the hat with the original cardboard insert in the hat WITHOUT THE GOGGLES ON. Love the hat. Super cute investment piece. Love that this was made Stateside!
