I teach embroidery and garment sewing and pathologically collect embroidery books, both vintage and new, and can't believe that I didn't know about this one!! I couldn't put it down after it arrived - so many completely unique, beautiful techniques on every page, gorgeous photographs, and the entire aesthetic is so inspiring. Completely focused on the technique of couching/cording and i could never have imagined so many amazing ways to use it to create texture in a piece. Bravo to the author!

From the description you know these projects are done using a couching stitch and the projects are beautiful and inspiring. In the books discussion on care and cleaning of these projects, there are warnings about laundering, as in avoid laundering. 2 of the projects, napkins and placemats would have to be laundered if used so I wouldn't want to gift them, knowing they require special handling. Other projects in the book could be dry cleaned and might still need special attention. I might consider basting some netting or gauze over the embellishments before dry cleaning. The book is beautiful and inspiring but I am planning how to execute the designs while making them more practical for daily use. Heavier stitching, stitches other than couching, etc.
