The taste is fantastic, and the customer service is five stars!
For taste, I would give this a 4.5 star rating, it's truly a delicious matcha, but because of the terrible way it dissolves, (or doesn't), I have to give it a 3-star. I love the cute little tin and packaging it arrived in, but seriously, it does not want to dissolve. I had to keep whisking it and whisking and whisking...and there were still lumps. Not fun to drink a cup full of clumpy matcha. For the price, it needs to actually dissolve in hot water for me to repurchase. That all being said, the company reached out to me and they offered a full refund. I am so impressed that I’m willing to give it another go and try running the matcha through a sieve first, as they suggested. I really love it when a company goes above and beyond to keep their customers happy and so, I gave an extra star in this review. If you are someone who doesn’t mind a quick sift first, you will be pleasantly surprised with the taste of this premium brand.

Match is not fresh green and tastes very grassy
The matcha has a very slightly yellow tint and is not fresh green which is an indicator of poor quality and/or storage. It does mix well in warm water, but it tastes very grassy and bitter. The taste alone is a sign that the matcha is not ceremonial grade, or very poor-quality ceremonial matcha. For such a poor quality matcha, the value for the money is much much worse than some of the higher-grade non-ceremonial matcha, like matcha from AprikaLife.

Worth Trying
I bought this tea because it got rave reviews on its flavor. This was my first experience with matcha green tea. I found the aroma when brewing it was fishy or sea weedy which made it unappetizing to me. I shared some with the person who educated me on the benefits of matcha green tea and she shared some of her brand with me. She didn't get the same aroma with Umami as I and I got the same aroma with her brand. So obviously it's my smeller. I have learned that if I don't inhale when I take a sip, I can enjoy it. And the amazing benefits of the matcha green tea seal the deal. The cute tin comes in a little cloth bag and then is packed in a little box which is then shipped in a bigger box so it comes very safely packaged.

Great ceremonial matcha!
I've been drinking this matcha for a few months and I love it! I started drinking matcha for its great health benefits and because it has a lot of antioxidants. It's been great for my energy and I think it helps me stay super focused at work.I can tell that this is real ceremonial matcha powder from Japan because it has a nice green color without that yellow/brownish color that you usually see with cheaper quality matcha. Its flavor is complex but smooth without the bitterness that I've noticed with other matchas I've tried. The packaging is awesome-- you can tell that the company takes a lot of pride in their products and service. When I had a question, customer service was friendly and responsive. Website was also super informative and helpful. Have ordered two tins already and about to order my third!

I don't usually leave reviews, but Umami Matcha is a product that has exceeded my expectations! The packaging is adorable, but what's most important is the quality of the product. The Umami matcha is outstanding: a brilliant green in color, it makes a tea without a hint of bitterness. I drink a LOT of matcha, and I think this is the best brand I've ever tried.

Very smooth flavor!
I've tried many different matcha brands and this is one of my favorites. The flavor is bold but not bitter. This matcha is a deep green and has just the right hint of sweetness. It does tend to clump a little in the tin so you should definitely sift it, but the taste is worth it! Highly recommend.
