Beginner Wood Carving Kit

Got this for my granddaughter who is 15. It is an excellent beginner set as promised. However, she was only working on the first piece - the recommended practice before tackling one of the three projects, when the blade twisted around in the handle causing her to slightly cut her finger. The blade is seated in a circular setting within the wooden handle. Whatever material that circular setting is, came loose from the handle causing the blade to twist sideways in the handle. Fortunately, she was taking it very slowing and wasn't harmed. But it was only the first piece of wood. We are going to try to make the it secure with gorilla glue. We'll see.So just be warned about the possibility of the blade coming unseated with not much use. Very disappointing.

Good starter kit. If they added a cut resistant glove it would be 5 stars all day.

Absolutely perfect. Comes with instructions, blanks, and a great starting knife.

The wood is cheap and the knife is dull.

Bought this as a gift for brother in law. He enjoyed it a lot. He had never done any of this before.

OVERPRICED AND WAY TOO MUCH FOR SHIPPING! I could have got this quality at Walmart ~ very disappointed. I wanted to shop in USA so this kind of thing didn't happen, but it still did. Come on Sellers ~ this is why people don't want to shop online.

This kit was okay (gifted). Very basic kit for an introduction into carving.

This kit was purchased as a gift and arrives in a clear plastic bag that allows one to see the contents. I didn't open the bag, as it is intended for someone else, but can see that the blanks are well cut and a good size. The knife is sturdy and well sheathed. The instruction booklet looks very nicely printed and put together. This is a nice kit for a beginner carver.
