Handle does fade a little if placed in the dishwasher.

This is a Western-style Chef knife with a wider blade narrowing to a 20" factory bevel. The handle is a nice wood finish, but it prevents being used in the dishwasher. The blade quality is excellent with a pattern on the blade that extends almost to the edge. The knife arrived rather dull, but with a low HRC, sharpening this knife was quite easy. You could whetstone this, but at the price and the HRC, an electric sharpener should do fine. The larger problem is that the knife is not quite balanced, and I had to spend some time refinishing the bevel for a more even cut. Even without evening the bevel, this is still a decent knife, and the steel works well.

We were expecting a bit more from this chef's knife, to be honest. While the blade did arrive sharp and the handle is comfortable to hold, it just doesn't seem like the highest quality materials. The handle is super smooth, but a bit light, and has a plasticky sound when you tap it. The "damascus" look on the blade is very clearly etched on. The tip of the knife is rounded rather than having a super sharp point. It does come with an easy to use plastic sheath, which is nice, though. If you are just looking for a functional knife to use, this would work, but we've seen better.

This 8" chef's knife is much nicer than I expected for the price.It has a nice, heavy feel to it, and balances well in my hand for chopping. It has a full tang, and the blade is made of carbon steel (note: it will rust if you leave it wet).It was not particularly sharp when it arrived, but that was easily taken care of by running it through my electric sharpener and should not affect it's rating.The etching on the knife blade is very attractive. It doesn't say the type of wood (I'm assuming it's not synthetic). The handle is lovely, but I don't recommend putting it in the dishwasher.Attractive and useful knife.

As stated in a prior review, it does not come razor sharp. So I was able to inspect closely without the worry of slicing a finger. Knife is very light and weighted well. Appears made of a solid piece of metal with a synthetic wood handle. Great price point for a great knife. Note: blade was easily sharpened.
