Flags of the Fifty States: Their Colorful Histories And Significance Hardcover – Illustrated, November 10, 2009

This is a beautiful book. It's small, about 6"x6", and that actually works very well. The book is well written, and the colors are vibrant and true. The hardback copy will be one to keep. My 7 year old grandson is being home schooled and is studying the 50 US States. This flag book is so beautiful and such a help, he is delighted and actually spends time just browsing through it. He will need some help reading it for awhile,but that's ok as it gives us time to learn together. Wonderful. Very impressed. Good job.

Bought for a project, but really excellent book. Interesting for adults and children of they can understand vocabulary. I really did like this book. Well written, nice pictures. Interesting info.

My 15 yo bonus son loved this book, he said it was his favorite gift that he received. He’s also super into flags so this was perfect for him!

I was very pleased with this book because it is a great resource for United States symbols and flags information. When I looked for a book like this, this was the only one and it is a good one. Each state flag, listed in the order they joined the Union, is described fully and you will be amazed at what some of the symbols represent. A great read - you can just read about one or two states at each setting, or use as an easy resource book. I recommend this book for adults and young adults - let's read more about our great country.

This book does a good job explaining the history of the current flags of each of the states and the rankings of the North American Vexillological Association. However I was really disappointed that it did not relate much of the history of past flags of states, and even in the few cases where it did mention other flags it did not show any illustration which is so important in something as graphic as a flag design. Some states had multiple flags during their history which sometimes tell an important story about the evolving history of those states, such as Texas or Louisiana or Mississippi.

Bought as a gift for a friend on the occasion of her naturalization as a U.S. citizen. It seems like a lot of citizenship gifts are American flag-themed, and I wanted something different but in that same vein. This is a beautiful coffee-table type book, though of course the dimensions are much smaller than a typical coffee-table book. And she loved it!

This book is detailed and explains the history of each state flag. I bought it for my brother-in-law who thought it would be neat to collect state flags. I suggested a coffee table book instead. Highly recommend it for all ages.

My son (6) loves this book. It inspires him to look at other cultures, work on geography and color the flags of other countries (I've learned a ton from this book as well). We've used this book so much that we broke the binding and bought another.

I love reading this Book that displays the Flags including their respective descriptions (origins, history, design, etc...) from all the fifty states in America, it was really worth purchasing it as the cost was affordable with free shipping included, and I will always highly recommend all to make a purchase of this Book if possible as it is definitely suitable for all ages to read and enjoy together!
