I wanted a 25’ long measuring tape, with a plastic housing in a bright color for better visibility. I selected this orange and black L725SCTMP model from Lufkin because it appeared to be well constructed, and was only $3.99 at the time.The housing is larger and thicker than I anticipated, measuring about 3.3 inches high and 1.6 inches wide. Although I would have preferred something a little thinner and smaller, this is a very solidly built item, with rubber at different places to provide shock protection against drops.This tape is reliable, and easy to use. When unlocked, the tape retracts smoothly and quickly. With a large locking button, it locks easily and securely. The metal tab at the end of the tape is large and extends down about 0.4 inches, which should help to reduce the instances where it slips off.The tape has two sets of fractional numbers, black on top and red below. The black numbers measure the length, while those in red are exactly half the value of the black number above it. If you are not good at fractions, you can quickly confirm what the midpoint would be.As long as quality is not compromised, I’m all for tools that feature bright colors, as they are more noticeable and hopefully less likely for me to misplace. This inexpensive Lufkin tape measure is as good as any I have used, and is a nice addition to my pink handled claw hammer.

If you kind find these in stock they are a great value for money. I always have it ready to go as a back up if I misplaced my other more expensive tape.

This is a GREAT addition to any DIY or small wood shop. Makes a really cool gift too. Every year I make a top 10 items of the year just for fun on social media and this one is was very high up there.Pros: easy to read, makes finding the center unbelievably easy.Cons: can be hard to line up on side without regular measurement marks. This is my second one, the first one failed around the 8” mark and after about a year of weekly (but not daily)use the tape was eating into the housing pretty bad and eventually failed.But I bought another because it is a great addition.

A trusted brand this appears well made with above average cushioning, clip and tape mechanisms. The centering option on the tape is absolutely genius. Just had to have one and no regrets.
