The second installment was better than the first!
I have to say I am a recent fan who has become hooked on the show DC cupcakes. I bought their first book and loved it, and it seems like the sisters took a lot of the comments on the first book (the chief complaint being that there was no recipe list) and improved upon their second book. I read the book in one day from start to finish and the only downside, I wanted to start baking right away! The book is full of new recipes, with a few repeats on techniques thrown in for good measure. What appeals to me is that the ingrediants lists don't seem overwhelming, when there are more than 25 ingrediants in a recipe, I immediatley get turned off. Everything seems well written and has lots of pictures to show the decorating techniques. , I've already made plans to bake the banana chocolate chip monkey cupcakes and I really want to try to the cherry tartlets too. All in all, I say this is a definate must have if you love cupcakes.

Finally!
The recipes in this book, compared to their first book (which I also have), are right on. Obviously, tried and true by you. Thanks, Georgetown Cupcake. My kids and I are enjoying your cupcakes more often now, thanks to the recipes. :)Your love for your family and your craft are obviously the reasons for your success! We are your biggest fans! More power to both of you!

Great book, bad cook
I was so excited to get this cupcake book. It does contain great ideas and recipes, but not one batch turned out. I have used other recipes with no problem. Some of the products used in the book are assuming you live in a large city and have items easily accessible. Great photos and a large variety of any and all types of cupcakes you would want. Also has tips on giving great parties and teas.

I bought this as a gift for 13 year old nephew who is planning to be an up and coming bakery owner. He said it was his favorite gift and was super excited to receive it until I brought out a dozen cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes.

Good Book, great stories
I really liked this book, I have read it completely, didn't give it 5 stars yet because I haven't had the time to try the recipes out and see how they come out. But from what I've read I think baking will go along smoothly.

Too much stories, not enough recipes...
Really disappointed in this book. I knew that the first book was more their story rather than a cookbook so I didn't purchase it and thought with this one it would be much more recipes from the shop (considering the huge amount of flavours shown on their website) but it is just a huge list of stories and tips about organising events again and hardly any recipes to go with them. The recipe list at the front makes it appear to be full but on closer inspection it's not realy flavours they sell either, apart from maybe the simpler ones like lemon and blackberry there really isn't any that appeal to the everyday baker. To me it looks like they want to keep their recipes fairly close to their chest which to me seems ridiculous to do that when taking out a second 'recipe' book. If you own a cupcake shop and don't want people to know your recipes then don't take out cookbooks and get people's hopes up. If the Hummingbird Bakery and the like can do it then why can't they?. The design of this book is also an awful layout, such as why give a tutorial on how to pipe their 'signature swirl' but not give your buttercream recipe right in front of it for people to make and practice with? The recipes are also mostly over the page or a few pages behind of the photography of the finished cupcake which if you are like me will annoy you if you want to see it as a guidance as you work your way through.Overall not what I wanted in a second book from the girls and if i'm honest I can only see myself making 3/4 recipes out of a 278 page book.

Gotta love a cupcake.
I first borrowed this book from our public library, and was sad when it was time to return it, so I knew I had to buy it. I’m a big fan of these sisters, and visited their DC, and Boston bakeries. I have yet to try a recipe, but there is some great tips, great stories, and recipes. I have a thing about cupcakes.

mah
ho trovato il libro nulla di eccezionale.... troppi racconti e poche ricette interessanti... più apparenza che sostanza, sono pochissime le ricette che meritano

Not as good as the first...
I bought this book because I loved the first one. I was looking forward to the new recipes, and found there to be a lot less in this book. It is more party planning ideas.
