Are the mountains raised?

The surface of the Mariner Globe is smooth.

Is anyone having trouble putting it together? Littlke wooden "washer'" is not right & the base won't sit flat due to screw sticking out bottom?

Just tighten the screw on the globe side. I hadn't realized it was loose until I was trying to figure out why the screw stuck out so far. Now it sits perfectly flat.
