THIS THING WORKS!! Even in the AZ summer months, it cut my chlorine usage in half!
I've been using this PoolRx device for almost a year and a half. It is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! Prior to this, I was using a floating Solar Shock unit which I purchased online from Costco. The Solar Shock worked well, but required weekly copper rod cleaning that was a PITA!!! It was messy, requiring you to scrape the copper rod with a wire brush, and soak the screen filter housing in CLR to keep it from getting completely calcified from hard water. During a calcium build-up cleaning by a professional company, I inquired about their weekly pool service (just to see what it would cost). When i got the quote from them, I noticed that they required that you have a PoolRx unit in order for them to honor the price they quoted. I had never heard of it, so I did a quick search and found that it's basically a MUCH BETTER version of the Solar Shock unit. You stick this item inside the pump basket. When your pool pump runs for normal cleaning, the chemicals inside this device disperse into your pool (it's invisible...no noticeable chemical smells or color). As these chemicals pass back through the pump basket, they interact with the copper rod located on the inside of the device and it actively keeps algae from growing in your pool. You still need to maintain some chlorine in your pool, but it has literally cut my chlorine usage IN HALF during the summer months in AZ. I went from 4+ chlorine tabs per week (in the 110+ degree summer months) down to 2. In the winter months, I use about 1 chlorine tablet every 2 weeks. I also have a unique "water wall" that acts like a high-end spa where water flows down the wall and creates a unique ambiance. The top of this water wall has a trough that stores a lot of water and during the summer months, that water can get NASTY in a hurry. I run the pump for this twice a day during the summer months to cycle the water, but with this PoolRx unit, a couple chlorine tabs and weekly shock treatments (necessary for my setup) my pool is crystal clear with absolutely no algae build-up and stays unbelievably clear (even when the water temps reach the 90s). Several summers back, even with the Solar Shock unit, I could not get the algae under control and eventually had to drain the pool, get it acid washed and start over. Take it from someone who has to maintain a pool in AZ, this thing WORKS! You need to add the refill chemicals every 4 to 6 months to keep everything working and you need to replace the whole PoolRx unit every year because the copper rod dissolves over time. For peace of mind knowing I won't have algae, the cost savings of 1/2 the chlorine usage, and it doesn't require maintenance...this thing is absolutely getting 5 stars from me. Hope this review helps.

I found my huckleberry
I have had my swimming pool in Florida for over seven years, and until Hurricane Ian, I never had any issues with algae, just using regular pool treatment products. However, during Ian, several screen panels of my pool enclosure were torn off, and my pool ended up filled with leaves and debris. It took me a few days to clean it up, but even after the cleanup, I noticed black and mustard algae started to grow. I treated and cleaned it, and for about a week, the pool was clear, but the algae came back. After battling the algae for two years without success, I came across a product that sounded promising. I decided to give it a try a few weeks ago, and the results have been amazing so far. The water is clear, the walls are spotless, and there’s no sign of algae buildup. It’s important to note that I followed the recommended procedure, including running a full cycle without the filter in place to allow the minerals to fully dissolve. I highly recommend Pool Rx+.

No algae since I started using
As an inexperienced pool owner I struggled with algae. I had to stop pool service after it became expensive and learn how to maintain the pool. I was introduced to this about a year ago and it has been life changing and incredible. Every Spring/Summer I would get stressed out with algae. Prior to Pool RX+ I tried borates, which are not only expensive but now difficult to find. Living by water and having a pool approx 15 feet from it, there tends to be a lot more algae. Since Pool RX+, the struggle is no longer real. It has without a doubt made a difference. So grateful to have been recommended this product.

Seems to work as advertised.
Seems to be killing the black algae in my pool. We will have to see how long it lasts. I am not seeing anything negative yet. Using it in a small play pool.

Should you try it? Yes
This is a really good product. I have been using it every spring since 2019…have never had an issue with algae or mold and it helps water stay sparkling…pools can be a real pain sometimes, this seems to help make it easier. Plus, you just drop it in a skimmer basket and forget about it.

Better than expected
This thing seems to be doing absolutely great. However it will stain your liner if it touches it. I wish it was just a pinch smaller to fit inside the strainer of my pump but instead o popped a string thru and let it sit over and inlet. I've not added chlorine since I put it up a month ago. It's doing great.

Great results in three hours
The media could not be loaded. I had been reading and studying this product for over a year. I just didn’t want to spend the money when all I had to do to get rid of algae was to add more chlorine. After looking at what I spent on shock and chlorine tabs, I got even more interested. A good friend of mine told me that he bought one and it reduced the amount of chlorine he used and it kept his pool water clear. So I bit the bullet and bought one. I have an 10k gallon, saltwater pool. After opening my pool I noticed the water was green and there was evidence of some algae on the wall and steps (see first picture ). I followed the instructions, backwashed and rinsed my sand filter and placed it in the skimmer basket next to the pump. Turned the pump on and came back in three hours. The water was clear and there algae was gone (see second video). Three hours! It is supposed to last for six months. That should take care of this swimming season. So far, I’m loving the results. I’ll start testing the pool chemicals soon so I can see how affects them. Looking forward to seeing results.

Slightly larger and more $ than last years
FYIThe 2025 model is slightly larger, on left in pic, than one I got last year. Barely fits in skimmer. Also was about $16 more 😭Positive side is it did work last year and hopefully works again this year.
