Easy to install and very sturdy
We had a new fence installed with a double wide 6 ft gate (12 feet total width). The fence was installed with a single drop rod on one side of the gate, just the latch part on the other side.During some heavy rain storms, the wind was pretty hard and I could see the second gate blowing out from the bottom so I wanted to make sure it didn't get damaged in a future storm.I added this heavy duty drop rod to the second gateIt was easy to installMakes the gate very sturdy, even in storms. The only downside (not really a downside for me) is that the gate can only be opened from the inside since both panels of the 12ft gate have drop rods. I actually look at it as a safety/security feature. Keeps unwanted people on the outside from being able to open the gates.

The prodcut is solid and works as advertised.
It was very easy to install on a section of my gate that would blow open and I have not had any more breakdowns in the gate being secure since.

Sturdy
It has a very sturdy rod that is 1 piece and solid steel. The Black finish is good quality and doesn't scratch easy. The L-shaped mounting brackets do a good job of securing the rod. My gate was steel so I swapped out the wood screws for stainless steel bolts 12-24. My old drop rod was too low. This one is long enough where I don't have to bend over and it locks in the up position with a quick 90 degree rotation of the rod which means I don't have to hold onto the rod while opening the gate. The only small complaint are the metal tabs that lock the rod in place are bit of a tight fit. It takes a bit of jiggling to get the tabs to pass through the hole. Also the top of the handle is a bit short. I would have preferred something I could wrap my whole hand around. It's not a big deal for me, but it is a little hard for my elderly mom to open. I would have designed the tabs with a bit of wedge to help guide them through the openings. Nonetheless, this is a very good quality drop rod especially for the low price.

Great Value for the Coat
Bought for a new fence gate and was surprised by the sturdiness of this for the price. Works great. Definitely a good find especially compared to the big box stores.

Heavy steel
I needed drop rods for two large 6' tall x 10' wide metal-framed wooden gates. They are HEAVY. Plus the ground slopes down where the gate swings open so I needed longer rods to reach down. These drop rods are up for the task. Very adjustable, easy to install and use. Perfect for my application.Edit after two years: other reviewers complain about the lack of durability of the finish. I have one drop rod on each of my two gate panels. On one, I lined up the brackets perfectly. It slides up and down with ease and after appx 100 uses, the paint finish is in good shape. On the other, I didn't get things aligned as well. The finish got rubbed off of the rod where it passes through the bracket, and it is sticky. I live in a wet climate and that is so far surprisingly not noticeable. Spend a little time making sure everything lines up, and you will not have any problems.I'm now buying two more of these for new swinging barn doors.

QUICK INSTALL - GREAT GATE PROP
This little gate holder was too easy to install and is the best thing that can happened to any gate you need to hold open for any period of time, long or short. I have had contractors and yard crews use everything but the kitchen sink to prop open my backyard access gate. This baby went into operation in about 15 minutes and worked the first time and every time. All the hardware came in the package and the instructions were simple and easy to understand (NO KIDDING). Highly recommend this drop rod; beats a rock, a 2x4, or anything else you would use in a pinch to prop open your gate. Looks good too!

Very solid and sturdy.
This thing is solid and sturdy. I buried a 12 or 14-inch long piece of 3/4 CPVC in two different places. When I drop the rod down it goes inside the CPVC pipe whether I'm wanting to keep the door open or closed.

Good product
Liked the length, used on double gates to hold open while going through one side while mounted then if driving tractor through can open both sides
