PERFECT! Better than expected. Couldn't be easier to install!
Very nice product. Since I've never tried this before obviously had no idea how it would go.We had old 6" recessed lighting cans that had incandescent flood lights in them, a black circular baffle insert with ugly bezel attached. Those slipped out, the LED light slipped in. After removing the new LED lights from the box, a quick twist of each metal mounting leg as seen in the product photo, to fan out the legs to fit the can diameter, of the new light, just pushed it in, and they fit snugly, perfectly with bezel hugging the ceiling. The light is bright but warm. I was worried it might be too yellow in it's 'warmness', but it's like what you'd expect from a bright incandescent bulb. More white than yellow just not the colder crisper white of the higher K values.Very clean modern look with the bezel. Infinitely better than what I replaced. It took me like 10 minutes to replace 3 of them. Wish I'd done this years ago. You can't beat the ease or the price.

Perfect replacement for incandescents all throughout the house
I have about 35 of these (a mix of the current generation and older generations) in my house. The oldest of them is about three years old. Most are attached to Control4 dimmers, a few to Lutron dimmers, and one to a normal toggle switch. All of them work flawlessly. High quality light, great dimming, no flickering or other issues. The brightness, color temperature, and light quality are all an excellent replacement for the 65W incandescents they replaced. And they look nicer in the ceiling than the old ones did. Before I found these, I tried several other brands, and none worked as well. I have no hesitation recommending these.

these turned out really nice. trim is aluminum maybe
these turned out really nice. trim is aluminum maybe, feels really nice. not cheap plastic. well built. light is real nice too, soft. more similar to incandescent than i was expecting. dim range with casetas wasn't as good, but ok. i don't dim a lot, but might also be switch, not the lights. the retention wings are interesting. at first i thought mine were messed up, no where near long enough. then realized they rotate, duh. i had to remove the stickers inside the can to work right, the wings would slide over the sticker and the light would lower a bit. once removed and positioned right, it held the lights in snug. i have a smooth ceiling painted in ultra white ceiling paint, and these blend right in. looks sharp. only worry is one failing and they don't make em anymore. but i'll replace other cans with these and use them as spares in case i need em. and worst case put those in main room and use either best i can find or standard bulb in other rooms that i don't care as much about matching in.

Replacement for gx24-q3 CFL
I used this to replace an enclosed gx24-q3 cfl recessed canned light above a shower/tub. These absurd fixtures were installed by the home builder in accordance with California building code circa 2008/2009. The bulbs are usually $7-9 each individually and not that easy to find. This "unique" interface prevented homeowners from easily replacing the cfl with an incandescent. The ballast had failed in mine, rendering the entire fixture nearly unusable. The adapters that are available are of questionable quality, at best. I bypassed the ballast using the existing wiring and wire nuts(well documented on the internet), cut off the gx24-q3 socket, and fitted a Leviton ceramic medium bulb base(p/n 10045). I joined the two positive leads and fastened them to the center conductor, and did the same to the neutral leads connecting them to the outside/screw conductor of the base. I then simply installed this LED retrofit kit per the supplied instructions. I'm pretty happy with the results. It looks very nice, is quite a bit brighter, and uses 10w instead of 23w.Two things to note(reason for 4 stars instead of 5): 1. the screw-in connector housing does contain power conditioning electronics. I don't think it will function without it. So I imagine you must have a medium base socket for this to work. With the Sylvania kits, you can remove the screw-in adapter and hard wire it into the can. This was my original plan until I discovered the electronics and had to install the ceramic base. 2. This kit does not come with a gasket to go between the housing lip and the ceiling. I think this should be included with a high efficiency LED retrofit kit.

Best can light retrofit
The mount for these lights will fit a wide variety of cans. The cans in our bonus room are an unusual length. The normal tension springs were too short to hold the light next to the ceiling, and they were too long to fit through the slots near the opening of the can. The twist-lock on these lights made them a cinch to install, and they easily install in the proper position. I can use them on all my homes’s can lights. The light temperature and brightness seems to be more accurate as well. The 2700K is more in line with the typical incandescent bulbs than some of the other can retrofit brands.

Easy fit, no hum, wonderful brightness range
I tried utilitech (lowes cheapo brand), halo, philips, and wasn’t quite satisfying with any. Finally ordered 1 of these Cree downlights and DANG; after installation I immediately ordered 4 more. They’re in a league of their own. The friction based installation mechanism is much easier and works better than the goofy spring system all the others used. The range of brightness on these puppies is amazing. I can get my room from a low warm, perfect for watching a movie under a blanket to a bright room great for a board game or assembling something.

Bright and gives off a good glow
I bought these for my book nook, I cannot honestly attest to the Easy to install rating as I hired an Electrician to make this happen but would think with a qualified installer this would be a breeze. The lights are lovely to look up at and provide more than sufficient lighting for my reading task. Aforesaid mentioned Electrician was able to hook them up to a dimmer switch providing a range of light level possibilities.
