For the price of this mic, I am blown away with its sound. This is the first ribbon mic I have ever purchased, though most definitely not the first one I've recorded with. I have used this mic for male vocals, trumpet, flugel, and tenor sax. Very pleased with its performance for all. I was urged by a friend (knowledgeable audio engineer) to check out this brand/product line and I will say that before purchasing, I ran this package by him. He suggested that I get a shock mount for it, which I did. The clip that comes with it, holds the mic, but yeah, get a shock mount to fit a small diameter mic. Really nice sounding ribbon mic for the money. Built solid. Phantom power safe is a huge plus.

There are better ribbon mics out there but for the money these are very usable. They work very well with a two microphone setup. But be aware that there are some phase issues when using with 57s and others. So if you try to bring this mic up to the same volume as the 57 you'll have a phase issue. Best way to get around it is to lower the volume on one of the mics. That way you won't have the canceling effect to be as noticeable. This microphone by itself kick's butt

Fantastic microphone. Very very hot. I had to play my acoustic a couple feet away from it. And it sounds incredible. It's warm but not muddy.

Great sound, great price. Mic clip is pretty lame though, I bought (on amazon) a Koolertron 30mm shock mount mic clip for 1/4 the price of the suspension clip offered at the Cascade website for this mic. All metal, sturdy, and adds that extra layer of isolation for the mic. The suspicion mount from Cascade is mostly plastic and costs 4x as much.

Not the best (for the price even) sounding ribbons. I’d spend $200 more and get a sE Voodoo 2 instead!

This is my second fat head. Wanted a second for stereo drum over heads. Awesome mic for the price!

I'm a pro trumpet player and this mic is very complementary for trumpet.
