Let's Have a Tea Party!: Special Celebrations for Little Girls

I bought this for my 8 and 11 yr old granddaughters birthdays.I haven't given it to them yet but I can't wait. Just a handful of ideas on having tea parties that I know will cause their creative minds to go to work right away.I love the ideas and simple recipes that they can do themselves.I can see them inviting their friends over to put these ideas to good use and have a feeling it will get their wheels spinning with some ideas of their own.

I read the other reviews of this book and had to see for myself what the fuss was all about. I looked for it in our area book stores, didn't find it; but, all were willing to order it for me to look at before buying. When the book came in I read it; loved it; and bought it for about the same price as Amazon.com. It was worth the extra pennies to be able to read the entire book and see the illustrations in person. Before reading the book I agreed with one reviewer that it seemed strange to return thanks at a tea party; but, realized why not give God thanks for all people and things in our lives, as this very short simple prayer does.Our son claims to be an atheist; my husband and I are Christians. We love our son, his wife, and our two grandchildren. The kids are going to a daycare center run by two muslim ladies. I don't know what the kids are being taught in this daycare about God and religion; and, it worries me greatly. After much prayer and reading the book with friends and my hubby I decided this was a great book that reflects our Christian beliefs in a very suttle way. Whether or not our son or this wife choose to read the book to our grandkids in it's entirety, read it omitting the prayer, or, never read it to them and the book ends up in the trash, garage sale or given away I have done my part to plant a seed. It's up to God to see to it that the seed, wherever sown, is watered and grows.

This book has great ideas! It's only 30 pages long but none of the ideas are a disappointment. This book has theme ideas, activites, and recipes! It also talks a little about tradition. This book could be used for good birthday ideas, slumber parties or even just to give your daughter an idea of what a real tea party is like. A good addition to any home library! Lots of fun. A good cure for bordome and rainy days.

Nice little book for ideas, projects and recipes for hosting a tea party for children or friends. Used it for my granddaughters princess party for some ideas. Was a cute book. Not may books available on hosting tea parties.

I gave "Let's Have a Tea Party" to my 9-year-old niece for a birthday gift. We've been having our own tea parties for her birthday since she was 2, but were unable to do that this year, since she moved to England last August. I shipped the book over to her new home just in time for her birthday on April 3rd. My sister said she was so excited when she opened the book and saw what it was she insisted on having a tea party that very afternoon with a neighbor girl. They followed the recipes for tea and treats and I was told that a wonderful time was had by all(Mommy and little sister were also invited). It sounds like the book was a terrific hit, so I would highly recommend it for any young lady who has a penchant for "girl parties" (as her younger brother calls them, even though he tends to linger closeby to enjoy the treats, as well!).

I used to own a Tea Room and this was one of the books I sold in the gift shop. There are so many wonderful themes to choose from and "how tos" so you achieve that theme. Once you get started you'll start adding your own personal touches ... we couldn't keep this book on the shelves.Having a Tea Party is a wonderful thing for little girls - we hosted many birthday and holiday parties for young girls in the 6-12 year old age range and this was a popular book!Jan Coad, founder/former owner of Hawthorn Tea Room, Tacoma, WA

It is a lovely book, but I was disappointed that it didn't have more pictures. I thought the text overwhelmed the illustrations. This would be more suitable for older girls. I purchased it for my six-year-old great-granddaughter, and it did not catch her interest. However, I will keep the book on hand and bring it out again when she is a little older.
