Whimsy (Angie's Patterns, Vol. 2)

One of the best in the Patterns series!
I've become a huge fan of Angie Grace books over the past few months and have acquired several. If you like patterns or mandalas, you will LOVE these books! Whimsy is one of my two favorites so far from the Patterns series. The books in the series have volume numbers, and the level of detail increases with each volume. Whimsy is detailed, but much less so than the later Patterns books. It's a nice happy medium between the intricate designs and the wide-tipped books, which makes it easy to color with just about any medium. The books are about average size and square - easy to carry around and color pretty much anywhere. They are only printed on one side of the page. The paper works wonderfully with alcohol markers (Bic, Sharpie, Copic, Spectrum Noir, etc.) The designs are always a joy to color. Despite having a large series of books, each one feels truly unique and different.Yes, the paper is thin. I was not originally a fan of the paper until I realized how great the thin paper is for coloring with markers. Put a blotter page behind what you're coloring and don't get -quite- up to the edge with your marker, and it works like a charm. The thinner paper allows the color to "bleed" outward more, which helps create smoother coloring with overlap lines. Colored pencils work great on here too, as long as you aren't scratching at the paper or anything crazy.

Slightly larger symmetrical designs
This book is full of square, symmetrical designs. The designs incorporate a variety of different shapes and elements, including flowers, columns, arrows, etc. All of the designs are abstract, and feature repeating patterns. These are great designs for people who love symmetry. Here are the important specs:- Designs are printed on one side of page.- Paper weight is fairly light. Markers will definitely bleed through. A piece of paper behind the page you're coloring will solve those problems, and I happily color this book with my Sharpies and Bics.- All designs are square-shaped, symmetrical, repeating patterns- Pages are not perforated.- These designs are larger and somewhat easier than some other Angie Grace books. There are fewer tiny spaces than in my other AG books. I can color many of these designs with fine tipped (as opposed to ultra fine) markers.- The beauty of these designs (and of all the AG books) is that no matter what colors you choose, the designs end up looking amazing. These books are fool-proof (not that there are any "wrongs" in coloring, but it's impossible for these to not look good at the end).I own a number of Angie Grace books and love them all. I have never regretted a purchase of an Angie Grace book. They offer hours of beautiful coloring.

Got better over time...now I love it!
This is one of my favorites...primarily because I like the designs (not too small and not too large). It's more modern than floral. The thicker line weight is great for coloring with 1mm markers (sharpies/bics). To help you decide if it's right for you, I've included several pages as examples. I will say, upon receiving this book, compared with my prior two coloring books, I initially gave it 3 stars. The reasons are less important now that I've almost finished the book and thoroughly enjoyed it, but here they are: The paper is a little thinner than some of my other books. The lines are a little jagged, but you have to look very very very closely to see they are not perfectly crisp. Each page has a wide border, making the actual design smaller than 7"x7". Once I started coloring, though, the smaller size seemed appropriate for the designs. Just FYI, the pages are not perforated. Since this book I've ordered three more Angie Grace books (Snazzy, Baubles, Spiffy) but Whimsy is still my fav. Enjoy!

Keeps Me Focused and Relaxed!
This is a great adult coloring book. I can get lost for hours on a single page. I love the patterns and really feel I got more than I paid for with this one. If you are looking for some stress relief or and escape this is the coloring book to use. I suffer from major depression have my whole life and I am unable to shut my mind down at times which also causes my insomnia. This book keeps me focused and relaxes me and the patterns and detail take my mind off things. I purchased a second one just to have on hand. I would recommend this to any adult coloring fan and would gladly give it as a gift also.

I just love her books
I just love her books!! Her illustrations are very intricate and fun to colour!! What's sets Angie Grace's books apart from the other ones is that she has developed a community on Facebook where we can share all of our finished pages out of her books with other partakers of her books! Also to make sure she is never out of stock on amazon she has agreed to let amazon print her book upon ordering! You will not be disappointed with this book or any of her other ones!! Go ahead and give it a try! You can use any medium to colour! I will jump between markers and colouring pencils even sometimes sakura jelly roll gel pens!

Great Therapy
The designs are fun and clear, perfect for coloring in all types of media. I'm really enjoying coloring these with markers. The book is a nice size and the designs are printed on one side only and there are a good number of designs in each book. I will enjoy getting more of these Angie Grace books. The paper is very nice. A heavier weight with a smooth finish, it takes markers beautifully and crisply. They still bleed through, but since only one side is printed, the bleed is not a problem. I use one of the blanks under the pages and I'm good to go. Colored pencils also do well.

Too structured
This isn't a bad coloring book, per se -- it's excellent in quality and design. But for me, personally, this is my least favorite book because it doesn't allow you to be spontaneous with your coloring. Yes, I realize that this is a "patterns" book, and maybe I shouldn't have ordered it in the first place, but I did because I didn't know any better :)If you go with a patterns book, you'll feel obligated to color it...pattern-like. Look at the cover -- you'll have to color certain parts the same colors to maintain the pattern look. I don't like that. I like to free wheel it when I'm coloring, otherwise it feels too structured and kind of...stressful. Know what I mean?

Super relajante
Totalmente recomendable.
