Gripdaddy v2ARM iPad Headrest Mount

We were looking for a simple yet sturdy bracket to hold our iPad between the driver's seats for long road trips. I did not want to spend a fortune and do not need something to entertain my children for every day trips. This bracket works perfectly for us! With its all metal construction, it is very well made and durable. Despite its simple design, it is infinitely adjustable. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, affordable, and durable mounting bracket for a tablet.

I bought to use it along with the Blubridge RX BT receiver in my GLK350 for the kids so they can enjoy a quality time watching a movie or netflix on the iPad, without having to spend $2400 on another rear entertainment system for this car. So far so good I need to take it for a ride and I will post an update to this review and may add some pics or video of the setup.The main issue I found is that I wanted to mount it on the passenger seat (cause I'm a tall guy and when I drive I take most of the rear space). So the only way to do it is to mount the Gripdaddy from the inside of the passenger seat and flip the mount that holds the iPad upside down. But I'm not sure how safe it is and you lose some of the iPad elevation level (loss of couple of inches or so)?!The pros about this setup ar:1-You can take it out and put it on another car.2-No modification/wiring to your car.3-When you don't have the kids you can take it out.4-Affordable price, it could be cheaper, but it's somewhat reasonable.5- feels sturdy and solid.Cons:1- No ability to mount it on the passenger seat, without compromising safety, view and or comfort.2- No storage bag, with Velcro to stick on the car carpet , in order to store it safely when not in use. it still $70 w/SH investment and you need to protect it.UPDATE 02/07/2012:I got the follow up for the seller/manufacturer about how to setup the mount on the passenger seat without losing elevation (Thank you Mark)."If you want to set up the mount for your passenger seat instead of the driver seat here is the best way. There are 2 screws that hold the main plastic plate to the extension tube. To access the screws gently peel back the foam rubber pads that cover the screws just enough that they are still stuck to the plate but enough that you can get to the screws. Remove the screws and flip the plate over 90 degrees and reattach plate. Just snug the screws down, don't crank them down too hard. Push the foam rubber pads back down and it's ready to use on the passenger seat (Mark from GripDaddy, 2012)."This worked for me. So it looks like you have some choices on how to setup the mount.On the passenger seat you can mount it from the inside/front or the outside/back.If you mount it form the outside the pipe will be on top.One thing I noticed is that the hooks screws stick out of the knob when tightened. This could be a safety concern, with kids and all.So the product could be improved by making the plastic knobs deeper, a foam cover, or something to prevent the hooks' screws from sticking out.So far so good. This product works as advertised with some room of improvement.It's the one of the best few solutions out there. I will be comparing it with COULVUE soon and I will be including some pics/videos.

The product is good, sturdy, easy to set up.I feel it holds my iPad securely and works with or without a case.It can sometimes make a rattle noise but small adjustments have been able to eliminate those.The problem I have with the mount is that at highway speeds it vibrates and makes it hard to watch, my kids never complain, but after riding in the back once with them I noticed it.It may not even really be a problem with the mount itself but that mounting to a seat/headrest leaves any mount prone to vibration unlike the traditional flip down dvd players in car ceilings.As a side note, the iPad does not have enough glare reduction, thing gets pretty hard to see during the day sometimes.

I didn't like this. Used it for a couple of weeks and then took it down / never re installed it. I found it awkward to have a metal pole sticking out in the back seat of my car. I worried about my kids jumping in and out of carseats and possibly falling into it. It also completely obstructed my rear view ( I have a BMW cross over vehicle). We tried using it upside down ( so that it wouldn't be in our rear view ) but it is not designed to be held that way, so the iPad kept falling out. Overall I just found it so be awkward clunky and potentially dangerous ( as far as view obstruction and possibly falling into it). So we took it out.

I can't believe I paid $60 for this. I like the quality of the product but for the price you would think it could have ways to adjust the postioning instead of just being in the center of the two seats.

Seller Feedback - Excellent - Shipped out in one day and received the next day. Well packaged. Instruction Diagrams could be better.Product feedback - As i mentioned the instruction sheet diagrams could be better, but honestly, you dont really need them. Its a pretty straight forward installation.I installed this in a minivan so that both my kids could view the IPAD at the same time. I have had other headrest mounted before, but this one is better because:1. No vibration - Solid steel made springs and nuts and bolts2. can be adjusted to the length of the space available about.3. Holds the iPAD very well - not worried about it being a projectileAll in all, I am very happy with this purchase
