"The battery will basically last forever. . ." (that's 2-1/2 years in real time)
Final update, July 2019:So, I bought my first Gun Box in November 2016. Once I figured out how to use the app to set it up it worked great, except that the thumbprint reader was never very accurate, but I have NEVER been able to get thumbprint readers to work consistently, on anything. That's probably just me, regardless, I just always used the RFID card to open it, and everything was honky-dory . . . until . . . Come May, 2019, the box is 2-1/2 years old, and the battery is dead, dead, dead. When I called Gun Box support 2-1/2 years ago they told me the battery would basically last forever. I guess forever lasts for 2-1/2 years. Now it turns out that the box won't open without the battery. Even with the box plugged in, the house current isn't enough to open it without the battery. I had bolted the box down to secure it. Now I guess I will have to drill it out to get my Sig back. Overall, the Gun Box is great for a while. It looks great, and it works great. If the thumbprint reader works for you, so much the better, but the shelf life is abysmal for a $600 investment (I bought 2). I was thinking about buying the shotgun box, but not now. I will never spend another dime on a Gun Box. Once I get my Sig back the Gun Boxes are headed for the landfill. It's too bad. I really liked the Gun Box. This is just . . . disappointing.Update, February 2017:Turns out the phone app does work with my Galaxy 6S. The problem was user error, but it took GunBox over 2 months to figure that out. That said, they did keep our dialog going until we solved the problem. Now I can comment about the phone app. While the phone app can open the box, that isn't its primary purpose. The phone app is used to configure the GunBox and view its status. I suspect that most of what you can do with the app you can also do without it, but the app makes it easier. I used the app to set the alarm, set up the fingerprint reader, and configure the RFID dongles and cards. To use the phone app you have to hit the shield button on the box to connect to the phone . . . every . . . time you want to do something. The connection times out after about 20 seconds for security, so you have to be quick and don't want to give your RFID tags a long name. Again, this is only a problem when setting the GunBox up. After that you won't use the app much.I still like the GunBox and I am planning to buy another one. It looks good, it's solidly built, and it's easy to operate. I use the RFID tags to open it. The fingerprint reader works about 50% of the time for me, but that's about standard with any fingerprint reader I have used. I haven't tried the lower "Sure Set" setting that makes the reader more forgiving (and less secure) yet. The only thing I don't much care for is the smell of contact cement when the GunBox opens. I asked them about that and they said that contact cement is the only thing they can use to make the rubber stick. They say that the battery will last up to a year between charges. Of course I would assume that depends on use and environment. You can check battery status with the app. I would encourage anyone considering buying a GunBox to go to their website and watch the tutorials first to see how they work. It's a nice box, appears to be well made, it looks pretty, and the Kensington lock is a nice add on.

Doesn't work with Android
Seems like a well built and functional safe. I like the features. MAJOR problem is that the app does not connect with and ANDROID device. My Motorola Turbo 2 and new Galaxy S8+ can manually detect it, but the app cannot see it. App has so much potential too. iPhone seems to work right away. Advertising is nothing more than a flat out lie. It's a shame, seems like a good product otherwise. Unfortunately I don't seem to be the only one experiencing these issues. BEWARE

It's really cool. The instructions are useless
I have had this newest version for a week now. It's really cool. The instructions are useless. They advise you to look at the YouTube tutorials which I did. The unit is good looking and is kept on my nightstand. I just ordered the tether cable to secure the GunBox to my bed frame. Highly recommended. The only issue I have is the biometric reader isn't the best. I've re-set(deleted) the saved fingerprints a few times now and I actually save multiple fingerprints of the same finger just in case and it still opens up on average every third time. I don't know if this biometric technology is top notch on these units. It even has a difficult time every second or third swipe of the provided RFID tags and cards.I just hope that should an intruder ever be inside my home, this unit will open when I need it.

Not happy!!
I've had this product for about a year, it has now stopped working. I cannot open the safe and the company is giving me the run around about how to open the safe. I asked for a partial refund for this inferior product, they refuse to give it to me and hung up the phone on me, when I asked for a refund. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE THAT STOPS WORKING FOR NO REASON!!!

Great for the purpose but........
Great box however only one USB seems to work at a time, I have my amazon Alexa plugged into it, but it won't charge my cell phone when plugged in. Also it would be amazing if it had gps tracking technology built in, the alarm is cool to stop kids from messing with it, but it can easily be removed from the home for those criminals who know what it is.

Junk print reader
Super-finicky fingerprint reader! Took lotion to get it to memorize my prints and now have to lick my finger before it will open. Should have listened to the other one star reviews and looked elsewhere.
